I have recently started using the Skinceuticals line of skincare products and would now like to change to a better line of makeup than I have been using (for my skin). I would like to try mineral makeup but don't really know what to try first. My skin is dry/very dry, pale and freckled (redhead), and occasionally has breakouts around my mouth. I think I am mostly interested in the Jane Iredale line from what I have read. I currently use a sheer foundation from Estee Lauder in a liquid form. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

I really like the JI liquid minerals foundation, but it can stick to dry areas so you may want to test it out first. I've also used the pressed powder which gives a nice matte coverage. The loose gives a slightly shiney/dewey finish.
The colours among all the products differs so do try samples before purchasing. skin-etc.com sells small samples for $3. They're about the size of a mac eyeshadow and last quite a while! |

I would also recommend the JI but have the same comment about the JI Liquid Minerals sticking to dry skin if you don't work quickly - if you use it on well moisturised skin then there are no problems and it's a great foundation.
I've recently started using the JI pressed foundation and I love it! It does feel a little dry on my (normal) skin but I am not just using a gel moisturiser at the moment. I spritz my skin with the JI hydration water and the dryness goes away. Be prepared to spritz your face with some hydrating spray though - the results are well worth it! |

Thanks for your help. I think I will try the Liquid Minerals first. Does anyone like BE Mineral Veil applied on top? |

Be careful of the Mineral Veil if you have very dry skin...
JI is a great line, but I too didn't have much luck with the liquid minerals, and I couldn't use their Amazing Base b/c it contains Bismuth Oxychloride which unfortunately gave me the itchies and a nasty breakout.
I like to consider myself the mineral queen as I have tried a gajillion lines. My makeup drawer is FILLED with samples. I found one that is truly fabulous in Aromaleigh's Mineral Makeup called Glissade. This MMU is fabulous - in my honest opinion of course! It glides on, but is not liquid - it is a powder and the color choices are endless!!!! Plus you can get samples at ridiculously low cost, and when you order they send you three free eyeshadows to try too! It has become my staple. Recently, I had posted that my skin was starting to get dry and I thought it may have been from the Glissade, but I realized I hadn't been drinking any water, as soon as I went back to hydrating myself, my skin returned to soft and normal. Glissade is supposed to be good for sensitive skin too - it does not contain Bismuth - makes your skin dewy but matte. Do I sound like I work for them??? lol! Nah - it's just that I tried so many, and when I found this one, I was hooked! Check out the reviews on Makeupalley.com (My review is there too!).

Hi All -
It'swww.aromaleigh.com.
Again, top three things I look for that I've found there -
1. Customer Service - Excellent
2. Turnaround time - products rec'd within a week with freebie samples!!! Plus, you can order sample sizes of just about everything, and they last about 3-7 days if not more.
3. A terrific forum with ladies as terrific as you all are! Just a great bunch of girls there who are incredibly helpful.
If you don't want a dewy, soft look - or if your skin isn't dry, they have a MMU called Voile which is for an oiler skintone. They also have a product called Illuminator which gives you that airbrushed, flawless look without sparkle or glow. Just yummy! Great lippies, blushes and shadows too. Very natural and pretty and super easy on the pocketbook. Honest to Goodness, I've tried at LEAST 10 other mineral lines (they are listed somewhere on one of these threads, lol! and this has been my favorite)
Okay, I've blabbed on long enough!

Liz - you might be SOL as far as ordering Aromaleigh from over there across the pond...I was checking out their customer service page and here’s the info regarding payment options:

Oh dang - I didn't even realize that!
I forget that we're all over the globe on this board.....grrr.....
Why don't some companies like to ship outside of the US? Think of all the new business they could garner! Is it too much of a hassle? Kinda unfamiliar with how that sort of thing works.
