Hi girls,

has anyone tried any other topicals with the heat lamp? and if so, did it make them more effective?

many thanks

Jackie - I didn't see this question before, but I have tried the FIM with other topicals and did notice some 'plumping' of my skin. I use CPs and will usually use the AALS, but tried the FIM a couple of times w/ CPs instead. I do think my skin looked more filled out afterwards, but didn't take pictures to be sure. I do think I'll try to do this before a special event, though.

This won't be an ongoing event for me, though. I spend too much time as it is already using the FIM on my pain issues. Rolling Eyes

Foxe, sorry to hear about your pain issues,... my back problems are the ones that have made me interested in the FIM lamp, ... many thanks for clearing some doubts I have about what all the FIM lamp is about.
Sister sweets, many thanks, the links have really helped me understand, though the mineral component I still don't understand at all... how can a light deliver minerals,...
The shame is I thought I could just buy an infrared light gadget round the corner... and it seems it is not the same! Crying or Very sad

A Tester this is for you: The FIM (Far-Infrared Mineral) medical device features a plate coated with a mineral formation consisting of 33 elements, essential to the human body.

When activated by its heating element, the mineral plate emits deep penetrating, far-infrared waves ranging from 2 to 25 microns in wavelength.
This coincides with the natural, healing far-infrared waves generated by our own bodies, and are naturally absorbed into our tissues.

At the molecular level, this exerts strong rotational and vibrational forces in the cells of these tissues. This absorbed energy has been found to yield many therapeutic effects on the human body.

I posted this information on the ASG thread a couple of months ago:

The mineral plate is a proprietary formula of 33 trace elements which are also found in the human body, in various chemical binding forms. The actual formula, specific mineral forms, and amounts of each of the materials used in manufacturing is secret. Twenty-six of the elements represented have been revealed by various manufacturers. They include: aluminum, antimony, arsenic, barium, boron, cadmium, calcium, carbon, chromium, cobalt, copper, iodine, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, phosphorus, selenium, silicon, sodium, sulfur, tin, titanium, zinc, and zirconium, bonded onto an iron plate .3 to .6 millimeters in thickness. The iron plate is .5 to 1.5 millimeters in thickness and provides stability and protection for the more fragile mineral layer, and distributes heat evenly on the plate. The remaining seven elements are suspected to be bismuth, germanium, lithium, potassium, rubidium, strontium, and vanadium, although verification has not been available.

At that time I asked you if those 33 metals/minerals were essential, and your reply was no. Have you changed your mind on the issue in the past 2 months?

Hi Lacy,

I am certainly not Sis however (and yes it is NIH) but there is a good bit of information here....
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2129162/

There is quite a nice chart here as well.....

http://www.brianmac.co.uk/minerals.htm

I would also like to here what sis's response to your inquiry is?

Thank you sister sweets for the info, I'm on the fence of purchasing a FIM light and still trying to grasp the science behind it.

Good info too Darkmoon, I'm already quite up to date with the importance of the internal use of minerals, ... I actually got a major result in improving my ezcema with increasing zinc intake,... can't quite relate the links you posted with the FIM lamp as they are related to internal use, but I expect there must be some relation in the sense that these minerals whether introduced into the body one way or the other have some effect on the body/skin.

It is in fact that some external lamps (Lightstim, FIM, IPL, etc) seem to affect skin that makes me wonder...
Like, why on earth never heed what I eat, drink or whatever... if I get a session of photorejuvenation my skin improves???
That was my experience so the reason to get a great interest in different lamp/lights, etc,..

I received my FIM lamp today. Just wondering if anyone noticed a type of burning smell when they first turned theirs on? It kind of smelled like oil or grease burning. Also, the directions say it is not recommended for the facial area. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

The smell is a one time thing with the first use...after that no smell at all.

My husband had an appointment with his doctor today....yearly checkup. The doctor he goes to has been working with him on a sleep disorder and he is the first after years of searching that has been able to pinpoint and help him deal with the problem. Anyway my husband has been using my mineral lamp on an aching place on his back and he wanted to know this doctor's thoughts about the device. The doctor was pleased and surprised that my husband was using the FIM mineral lamp and said he has several he uses at his home and has some in the office for treatments. He said they are wonderful and said to make sure to change out the disk to keep the minerals effective....need to check on the amount of use before changing the disk. Now my husband didn't ask him about the use of beauty treatments....wish I had gone with him to inquire about that. But this doctor is ultra conservative about what his patients eat drink and come in contact with. This is a little about him.

I understand the principal of the infrared lamp (they have been around for years) in that the light-rays penetrate the skin - but I'm still confused about the minerals. The heat of the lamp turns the minerals into ions - does that mean that the light-rays carry the ions into the skin? Otherwise, you would imagine that the minerals would be just floating off somewhere!

Does anyone understand why aluminium and arsenic are included? They must be there for some reason.

Hi Toby, thanks for the info. Do you also sometimes hear a crackling sound coming from the plate when you use it? Also, do you know what the fuses that come with it are for? Great news about your husband receiving proper treatment. That's always a relief. Thanks again.

Hi, I'm worried about the aluminum connection and Alzheimer's Disease. I was ready to buy one then I read about aluminum being one of the minerals on the plate. Confused

This article states there's no connection:

I respect this writer's opinions - he's very well known and respected in Oz.

Keliu, THANK YOU so much for the link. The article is very interesting.
My DH and I have a business where we are in contact with the elderly, many of whom have dementia or Alzheimer's. This terrible disease scares me to death. I hope you will understand when I ask if there is any further information on this topic. I've done a Google search on for this, but I haven't come up with anything helpful.
Thanks again, Keliu. I really do appreciate it.

I also posted this in the Ageless Secret thread...
I wanted to share some information regarding the FIM Mineral Lamp usage and exposure with the eyes. I had a recent appointment with my ophthalmologist and wanted to get a full review from him regarding the safety of using the the FIM Mineral lamp as a beauty treatment(17” away from the unprotected eyes). I need to back up and tell you that I had posted on the thread that I thought that people might want to wear safety goggles. At first …it made sense to be cautious and I did use the safety goggles. Then I phoned my doctor and spoke to his nurse about the device to see what he thought. The nurse told me to fax the information about the lamp and she would have him review it and she would call me back with his decision. She called back within the week and said it was ok not to use the goggles. I didn't post that information because I wanted to talk to my doctor in person before sharing any information here. But I felt comfortable with using the mineral lamp 17” away without any eye protection and have done so for months now. Last week I went for an eye exam and took all my information on the lamp with me…including the FDA warning. We spent a long time talking and without any doubt my ophthalmologist felt very comfortable with me using the lamp. He went further to say it could be helping the oil glands(meibomain glands)stay open….these aid in keeping the tears in the eyes, thus helping with the dry eye situation. So he said to keep it up. For the record my dry eye condition was under control before I started with the mineral lamp and Ageless Secret Products but I was still using over the counter eye drops and having some dryness in my eyes in the morning. I now don’t have any issues nor need eye drops.

VERY IMPORTANT……You need to know that I used to have severe dry eyes …so much so that I had tear plugs put in and had the following protocol: restasis (2X daily),antibiotic daily to keep the oil glands opened up, over the counter drops (hourly), hot compresses to the eyes (2Xdaily). I currently do not have any symptoms of dry eyes and no longer need any of the protocol above…plugs are out and I no longer even use over the counter drops. My ophthalmologist is one of the best in the US, he has been a pioneer in an innovative treatment of dry eyes through a process of making eye drops from a patients own blood plasma…this works for people that have been resistant to other treatments. He is also a cornea specialist performing cornea transplants. Since he treats severe eye conditions he would be very quick to be alarmed to something that could damage the eye. He assured me the lamp wouldn't be harmful to the eyes. But and this is a BIG ….BUT …..not every doctor will agree, so this information is given as one doctor’s opinion…..Also keep in mind we are all different and need to make the decision for ourselves. I will say that many times when doctors don’t know if something is dangerous, they will err on the side of caution, and that can be a good thing.

wave Toby - thanks for the report! I'm still faithfully using both the ASG and FIM light and seeing results. I'm in Central Texas and this summer is brutal - 105 degrees today. So, it's hard to feel like you look good when your energy is drained and it feels like an oven when you are outside. But, saying that, I'm grateful for ASG - feel like it's helping me maintain at this point most definitely!
