I wax (every 4 weeks) and I'm prone to ingrown hairs and bumps and red marks on my legs. My mother has this problem as well. I use to just use a mild exfoliator only once a week, and a moisturizing shower gel. No moisturizer after showering (lazy teenager...ha)
I've done some research and I'm pretty sure they are ingrown hairs? since hairs grow out of the little bumps. They're sort of like skin coloured bumps like clogged pores except they're... just different. It's hard to explain. I also have light red dots on my lower calf/ankle area. Yup, chicken skin syndrome. Generally bumpy/uneven legs.. nice!
but anyways, I've decided to do this as my bodycare routine. any help/advice would be appreciated.
- exfoliate every other day with a sugar, oil, honey+lemon scrub
- after shower, use Paula's Choice Weightless Body Treatment with 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid
- moisturize with baby oil after the BHA
- at night, put on Paula's Choice Skin Revealing Body Lotion with 10% AHA, followed by Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula
- in the morning, just moisturize with Palmer's again but I might need to use an AHA or BHA then as well...help?
Before I buy the Paula's choice products which are a leeetle pricy, do you think this would be a good routine? I've also already used the scrub (homemade) and the baby oil and it has made my skin a bit more radiant after one use.. which is a good sign I guess. Any other products/tips that would help would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU! have a looovely day |

After my bikini waxes I was experiencing some bumps, and red marks.
I started to exfoliate before my waxes, making sure to wipe down any waxing area with alcohol on a cotton ball right before waxing to kill any bacteria that may be on the skin (this can cause blemishes and/or infections), then using a product like Tend Skin or Bikini Zone 2X a day for about a week after the waxing has cleared up any bumps, redness, etc for me. |

Thanks for the tips! I'm getting waxed again in a few weeks time. I'll see if the exfoliation helps some. My mum's going on about how I spend too much on products, lol (I buy my own stuff) and I'm always broke nowadays... so I'll wait a few months and see if the bumps are any better. If they're not, I'll try Tend Skin. Again, thanks a lot for the help! |

It seems that you have some kind of keratosis pilaris (nothing to worry about).
The only product I can recomend for you is AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion, it is an excellent AHA lotion for the body!
I use it for my dry/flaky body skin (and I also had some bumps like yours), it exfoliates and hydrates the body skin.
I use it twice a day, and I don't need use any other product |

Yeah, I think so, thanks for the advice I'll try out the Paula's Choice products. If they don't work in a few months, I'll try your suggestion. Seems mine is quite mild though, looking at some pictures on the net. I'm glad your condition cleared up, it's very reassuring! |

I think you have a good plan.
I really like those 2 body lotions from Paula's Choice that you mentioned. I have not used both as the same times as you mentioned using but thats not a bad idea.
If you order, check on beautypedia first. There was link on there the other day for free shipping no order minimum. |
