I have a sort of cowlick where a widow's peak would be, except it's not really a "peak".
I just have hair that grows straight up, maybe slightly back, rather than forward. I have for years mostly worn my hair pulled back, but longed to wear it other ways or have bangs.
I think I might get some benefit from taping my hair down at night with styling tape (maybe onto frownies, lol) if I'm not going to wash it in the morning, but:
I would like to know some good products for dealing with cowlicks. I saw a recommendation in a magazine for some classic moustache styling-wax, which she would use to tame cowlicks. That might really help with holding bangs down and keeping them from separating like a curtain that wants to open at the middle of the top of the forehead.
Any feedback will be much appreciated! |

A few suggestions,
First make sure you have a GREAT stylist that knows how to cut/work with your hair!
You can purchase that pink tape made specifically for holding hair overnight.
There are styling waxes that do indeed help Bed Head is just one example for a brand that makes such a product.
The most important thing is having a stylist that truly knows how to cut your hair to accommodate your cowlick.

Yes, thanks!
Anyone else with pointers please do chime in!
Oh, and if someone knows up such a great stylist in the NYC area, let me know here or via PM. Obviously, the more affordable the better. |

A good knowledgeable stylist is 90% of the solution. The other 10% is your hair!
My bangs would always separate at the center so I gave up an having any. On a whim one day when I was at JC Penney's I decided to get a hair trim. I did mention that I always wanted bangs.
The stylist parted my hair slightly off the center and chopped the hair at an angle. The bangs sway gently to the side instead of straight down. I don't have to tame them or use any special gels to keep them in place. Just wash and go! |
