Hi! I'm very happy to hear that you are eating well now and have quit smoking. Please keep up the good habbits. Food is our friend and makes us beautiful and healthy! Start with a gentle cleanser in the morning and again at night. I recomend Spectro Jel or Cetaphil. Both cleanse well without stripping your skin. For moisture as well as protection, you can try Olay Total Effects. It does a beautiful job in keeping your skin moist. Try to exfoliate 3 times a week with a good gentle scrub. Aveeno makes a good one. Once or twice a month, give your skin a peel. Neutrogena has a very good in home peel. Don't forget to moisturize the eye area. I've tried so many. Right now I'm using a good one containing retinol by Roc. Above all, make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating lots of veggies! You'll notice a huge difference in your skin! |

Good for you! Disordered eating and smoking are skin ravagers, for sure! It makes sense that your skin is as devitalized and as sensitive as you've described! There are some really terrific "active" products out there -- but when the body is as traumatized as it sounds like yours was; the skin reacts, often behaving very abnormally - resulting in ultra-sensitive skin. If you can afford it, Clarins has a superb "gentle line" designed to desensitize the skin and prepare it for more active treatments.... and Cetaphil is a beautiful cleanser for sensitive skin.... At any rate, I'd recommend a very gentle skin care regime to acclimatize your skin before looking to intensive, corrective treatment - your skin might not be able to tolerate alot of the incredibly active ingredients. You could very well misinterpret "sensitivity" for an "allergy" and turn yourself off some really excellent products.
Take care,
Annie |

Sally,
I have been doing some thinking about your skin concerns. You know that I love AlphaDerma but seeing you have been using a product with Argireline in it for so long I have a suggestion for you. I think you might consider giving Epidermx, Camellia oil, and Derma Butter a try. Epidermx is an exfoliant. I can't comment much on that as I really don't need to use a microderm product. However recently I have tried Camellia Oil and Derma Butter and I find it very hydrating and extremely gently on delicate skin. I really think it will smooth out your skin and plump up those fine lines. You skin needs some TLC now.
Good luck Sally. |

I agree with Winnie that the Epidermx microdermabrasion cream, Silkia camellia oil and/or Derma Butter will work very well for you. These are natural products and will restore brightness, hydration and elasticity to your skin.
You can gently use the Epidermx around your eyes - it will flatten the fine lines there. I think the bagginess under your eyes will also improve a lot (but I wouldn't use it on the eye lids).
The camellia oil is very moisturizing and nourishing. It's a great moisturizer for your dehydrated skin. It'll plump up the eye area very nicely and can also smooth out fine lines. Your skin will look more healthy and have a nice glow. Add the Derma Butter over the oil if you need extra hydration. |
