Hey everyone, I'm a 15+ male who's got moderate acne and am treating it with retin-a, sulfacete-R, and sumycin pills. This was the prescription my doctor gave me, he told me the sulfacete would take care of the redness but it isn't and since I'm pretty pale it looks really bad having a red face.. it's not too too bad, but I do find it pretty noticeable, especially after getting out of the shower.
I was wondering if there is anything out there I can get that will return my skin to it's original skin color and turn the red back into a whiter color, that is used to be. I really would like the best product that's out there for this that's over the counter, and works fast.. also, if you know of prescription drugs that do this please suggest them as I will ask my doctor about them too. |

Hi,
Don't be too worry about the redness, this is quite commom with Retin A treatment. However, you may want to stop putting on the cream for a few days and let your skin heals.
When i was under Retin A treatment, my doctor gave me hydrocrotisone cream to treat my redness and sensitiveness.
Retin A is a good treatment for acne skin. You will have to monitor your skin condition when using this cream, if your skin get over-drying or hurt, then skip the cream for 1-2 days until the skin get back to normal and continue with the cream again. This way your skin will not suffer from over drying, excessive peeling or redness.

Hi there
I used Retin A and Accutane after the Retin A didnt work for me. Unfortunately and typical of my luck, the spots have begun to return. As for calming of the redness, I never really succeeded to be honest so Im no use there, sorry!
Word of warning though, the photosensitivity from both products is unbelievable. My skin got this horrible what I can only call a 'crust' on both cheeks after I was out in the sun for a little longer than I should have been. Apart from being painful it took days of getting worse before it got better. To be quite honest, while I understand anyone wanting to use these products, acne would drive you to use anything if you think it will help, theyre phenomenally harsh |

This is not my personal opinion, it's some advise from a Dermalogica skin consultant, just for your reference only....
Retin A and Accutane should be avoided...
both products causes the skin become more sensitive. The effect of the drug which renew 7 layers of skin.. not just the face, but the body as well... causing the skin became thinner and easier to be damaged by sun or pollution..etc
