I'm a animal lover after having my doggie who is like a child to me. My husband and I just watched a documentary called "Earthlings" which portrayed real live footages of the cruelty animals go through in order to produce products we all use in our households such as skincare and make-up.

I was shocked to find out how many products I have in my home that contribute to these poor animals suffering.
I made a decision to purchase products wisely and buy my make-up and skincare products that are not tested on animals...however, there are a few of my favourite things like volumanous mascara by L'oreal that will be very hard to replace.
here is a list of companies that don't test on animals

Have any of you made that decision to purchase cruelty free products? Your thoughts |

Thank you very much for posting. It is a huge concern for me too. I'm a long time vegetarian and animal lover (also with dogs that are like my babies), so it follows that I try to avoid cosmetic products tested on animals or containing animal ingredients. It's often trickier than it seems though, and sometimes, especially in the case of SS, I make exceptions. What's tricky is that it can say not tested on animals, but the parent company may be a prolific tester (case in point: L'Oreal is a huge tester, but owns The Body Shop, which asserts itself as a non-tester). Also, it's very hard to know if something contains animal ingredients unless it specefically says so. Thanks for your concern and the links you posted. |

Apparently PETA isn't very trustworthy as they allow 3rd party testing. Leapingbunny.org is a better site for shopping cruelty-free |
