I am just beginning to use Obagi Nu-Derm and noticed that this website has some great reviews on it! I've been using it only at night for about a month. I had a little bit of peeling around my nose and mouth (it actually left some red spots next to my mouth that weren't there before and won't go away so if you know how to get rid of these, I'd love some tips) but my forehead, nose, cheeks, etc. never had any peeling.
I have been reading about using a maintenance program and was wondering why I would need to do this? After using Obagi and then stopping, are there going to be bad side effects? I've heard of people getting dark spots from only a small amount of sun exposure. Has anyone experienced this?
I don't want to keep using Obagi if it is going to cause problems later!
Thank you! |

Hi Emalie,
After you finish your 18-24 week regimen, you will need to go on a maintenance program in order to maintain the results you achieve. All of this can be somewhat "trial and error" in determining what will work best for you. The goal is to use the least amount of product to maintain your results.
My staples on maintenance are Clear, Blender, and retin a. And, a good sunscreen!
Good luck and keep us posted! Also, there is an amazing amount of information on the forum in regards to Obagi. If you have any extra time, it might be helpful if you take a look at it. |

I would agree with kims, after you finish the 18 to 24 weeks, maintenance is important. I've been on maintenance for nearly 2 years now and I tend to tweak the amount and usage to obtain the same results. I have read on the forum that some people have maintain the results without using Obagi HQ. I think in the end, it's an individual thing. Personally, I found I needed to use the clear, blender and retin A. Whatever you decide including retin A into you skin care regime will always be a bonus in the long term. |

I have just finished the obagi program and was just using the cleanser and toner and found I broke out on the left side of my face
I have since started using clear and blender at night with retin a and the acne is started to dry up. i have also been looking at trying viatmin C line for maintainance
my only concern is i don't really want to keep putting all these chemicals on my face |
