Taking care of my skin is new to me after neglet all my life (I'm 34 now). So I read these boards again, did research on goggle and bought a bunch of things. Now I don't know how to fit it in and how often or when to use certain products or gadgets, like facial exercise, LED, and rollers.
For my face I now have:
Cleanser
Toner
Vitamin C serum (for AM)
Lightening serum (for PM)
Light SPF 20 moisturizer (for AM)
Squalane and Argin Oil (for PM)
Pineapple and Papaya Enzyme Mask
Glycolic 30% Peel (which I haven't used yet)
Then for tools I have:
Facial Exercise DVD
Lightstim Anti-aging LED
Dermaroller
For my body I also have a skin brush and body lotion, and I plan on using the dermaroller and acid / enzyme peels on my body for KP, cellulite and stretchmarks and scars and thin skin etc.
So besides for the basic routine of cleansing and moisterizing etc. how often should I use the other things and in what order? I'm assuming I should do the facial exercise and LED daily? When should I do them? In the morning before the cleansing skin care routine? The exercises first and then the LED and then products? What about the dermaroller etc? How would you organize it? |

I wouldnt dive into all these things at once. Usage really varies.
Dermaroller depends on the size of the needles. Some are more for product penetration which are usually ok to use daily. Longer needles should only be use every several weeks. But you also need to listen to your skin. You really don't want to be using peels and roller together. I would pick 1 and stick with that for several months. Too much irritation will do more harm then good.
I think the Lightstim is to be 4-5 days a week at first then back off to 2-3. I'd email them and ask about usage. |

Thanks. I was only planning on doing the masks and dermaroller once a week (it's a 1.5). I just don't know what order to do the daily things in. Like when you do facial exercise, should you do it before your cleansing routine since you're touching your face anyways? Or should you cleanse at least before using the lightstim, or put an active on before the lightstim and which one is best? Just trying to set up a routine. |

You seem to have your routine down pat including what and when to use your topical products.
However with the skincare tools/devices you should be looking to rotate the use of them every second night, as the skin generally needs a day to recover, without that extra day you wont achieve many results.
Which facial exercise program do you follow? |

I'm 20 with oily/acne prone skin. I like to change my skincare like I change clothes.
AM routine:
Wash face with Neutrogena 2% BHA gel cleanser
Tone face with Neutrogena alcohol free toner
or with Origins Zero Oil toner.
On especially oily days I use Stridex antioxidant pads with 1% BHA.
Then I apply origins plantscription serum followed by my PTR Retinol Fusion AM spf 30, or my LRP anthelios 60.
PM routine:
Wash face with clean & clear foaming cleanser then exfoliate with St. Ives Green Tea Scrub.
Tone with any toner depending if skin is dry or oily. Then I use Origins Mega Mushroom serum followed by poetry in lotion 1% retinol.
Several times a week I use 0.05% Retin A gel, on those days I make sure to be extra gentle and not use any irritating products.
I also use PTR unrwrinkle peel pads whenever I remember. A lot of "anti-aging" products contain retinoids and acids which help with my acne/oily skin. ^.^ |
