Hi. I need help. My natural nails (at the free edge) have always either turned up or partly turned down...they don't look freakish or anything, I notice it and don't like them. I have done either acrylics or gels off and on for about 20 or so years. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix my ugly nails. I would love to not have to do acrylics and/or gels. |

I would guess it is genetic unless there is an something medical going on.
Nails that curve up (spooned) MAY be a indication of anemia and/or iron deficiency, chromium or vitamin C deficiency.
Nails that curve down MAY denote heart, liver, or respiratory problems. It can also be caused by a vitamin B12 deficiency.
If your nails have always grown like this, then it is probably just genetic. IMO, there isn't much you can do, as the nail is formed under the cuticle and it's shape is predetermined. I'd suggest keeping them groomed and short and making the best of what you have unless you want to reconsider Gel or Acrylic nails.
You could try Mavala Nailactin. Mavala Nailactin is excellent for adding moisture to nails and encouraging healthy nail growth. Improvement is visible within a week or so of daily use, and increases with continued use. |
