I read an e-mail that was posted a couple of weeks ago on the Acthyderm electroportation machine. It is supposed to help with wrinkles, skin tone, stretch marks and celulite. Seems a little to good to be true. I have lost track of the post and was wondering if anyone had responded with feedback, good or bad, on these treatments.
I appreciate any information you can share. |

I think it CAN help but the treatments are expensive and you have to continue with them in order for the results to last. Where I live they are $150 per treatment.
I signed up for a "package" of 10 treatments. (The esthetician had a special on in Oct.). I did 5 and then switched to 'cold laser' treatments for the remainder. My esthetician suggested the change in treatments based on me not seeing any results. My area of main concern was around my eyes. I am 35 and my skin is in pretty good shape. The Acthyderm, from my understanding and from what the esthetician told me, is primarily for more "lifting" of the overall cheek sort of area (as well as overall skin tone) but it does not get into the eye area/crow's feet area really well. Why she didn't emphasize this when I first signed up I don't know.
I feel like I basically wasted my money. I did see improvement in my skin right after a treatment but it did not last and I just don't have the kind of money to do 10 treatments and then continue with a minimun of 1 treatment per month. Also I did start using new products then so it could have been the products making the difference.
What Acthyderm is suppose to do is help your skin absorb the products you are using better. I feel my money would have been better spent on products. But everyone is different and I say try it if you have the money but it is not a "miracle" treatment.
You also need to look into the "grade" of machine that is being used. There is the 'medical' grade (which they actually use to get drugs into a patient- absorbing through the skin) and the 'spa' grade. Most places charge less if they have a spa grade machine as the machine is not as expensive. The place I went to had the medical grade one. The medical grade one supposedly works at a deeper level and so if you are going to do it you would probably see better results.
I hope that helps. |

Is this the machine that sparks light just like those globe shaped things when you put your hand on them?? |

No, I think what you are talking about is what they use to calm down the skin after a facial? With the Athydern they put on some cream and drag a wand of sorts in a grid pattern which is supposed to prepare you skin to absorb the product which is applied with a roller, kind of like roll on anti-perspirant.
Thank you Lily for your reply. Sounds like you have a good esthetician if she realized it wasn't working and switched you. Did she say she usually sees better results with others? I don't have money to waste and maintenance treatments once a month sounds pretty pricy, I would spend the money if I knew it would work. Did the cold laser work for you? |

My esthetician says she sees better results with older clients as they have more sagging in the check area.
The cold laser was good. Same sort of thing though- my skin looked really good right after but the next day it looked the same. It think with those things it would be better if you could continue to do it b/c as soon as you stop you don't see the results. For myself, because I don't have the money to do those kind of treatments indefinitely, my money would have been better spent on good products. |
