In two weeks I'll be trying Vbeam for my strawberry mark and cheek and chin redness. I've been using tretinoin .025 microgel every other night for the past month instead of nightly because it made my skin redder. On alternate nights I use Skinbiology LacSal lactic acid and salicylic acid to keep the flaking down. I was thinking of dropping the LacSal and trying to use microgel nightly to see how irritated my skin gets.
I also use the Clarisonic delicate brush every night with Cerave foaming facial cleanser to remove makeup before using either of the above products.
I use Skinbiology SkinSignals CPs as well as their squalane with retinol every AM.
After the Vbeam treatment, I don't want to waste my money if any of the above makes my skin red again. Will I need to change my routine before after the treatment? |

All I know is that you're supposed to stop using Retin-A about a week before an IPL treatment. I would imagine the advice would be similar for VBeam.
Afterwards, the Clarisonic shouldn't be a problem. As for the other products, I'd re-introduce them slowly and just see how your skin reacts. |

Keliu is right on the mark in regards to stopping Retin-A prior to IPL as this has been requested from the dermatologist that does mine for me in the past (rosacea issues).
Also whenever clinics assess someone that's interested in having a laser procedure they recommend the individual stops use of Retin-A for a lengthy period of time prior to the procedure. I assume it would be the same.
I am going off observations in regards to your questions but have noticed this is usually the specialists recommendation. Your best bet would probably be to give the clinic a phone call regarding the matter. |

I called the derm's office and spoke to the nurse. She asked the doctor who said it was okay to continue using tretinoins. I said that if you use IPL's you are not supposed to and she answered that Vbeam is for capillaries. I asked if my face would be red afterward from the procedure itself because I had to go back to work. She said I'd have purple dots! She said I could cover them with makeup.
Anyone else have experience with Vbeam? Why purple dots? I know someone who had a "photo facial" and came to work with what looked like dark brown freckles afterward. I don't know what kind of laser she had. |

The reason it's best to stop using Retin
-A before laser treatments is because Retin-A makes your skin more sensitive to light. I understand that Vbeam is also a laser light treatment, so I'm not sure I understand why you can keep on using Retin-A. Also, IPL is an effective treatment for capillaries as well.
I would imagine the purple dots would be from the laser penetrating the skin. IPL is also referred to as a Photo Facial - the dark spots are areas of sun damage that have been effected by the laser. They turn brown and then eventually dry up and drop off. |
