A year ago or so, I remember on my chest/neck I had a couple brownish spots develop, they were around the size of a looney or so.

These looked like the type of brown spots you see on really old people, so I assumed they were age spots, or sun spots, and just chalked it up as part of my bad genetics.

However, I noticed recently that they are now gone. I'm not sure if they faded slowly over months or vanished overnight, because I normally don't pay much attention to the mirror.

Now I'm curious as to what the most likelihood of these spots were. Do age spots just vanish normally, or was this something else?

Have you been wearing anything that revealed that part of your body previously? It might have been sun damage and gone away by itself after a while

Yep what oasis said... Wink

I have a mole on my chest that would get quite dark - I always have my doc check it and he says it's ok - but ever since I've been wearing higher necked tops and shirts and it doesnt get any light on it, the mole has faded so much that it's just kinda skin coloured at the moment...

Well these spots were high enough that they would have been exposed quite a bit. So perhaps that's what it was.

Usually I try to stay indoors, and my skin is always so damn pale, so the odd time I do go outside to do some work, that's when I get sun-burned/tanned quite a bit as my body isn't used to it.

As a way to use up moisturizers I purchased and ended up not liking (I'm a total product junkie), I started using them on my neck and chest. It wasn't until my fiance asked why my arms were tanned and my chest wasn't (I live in tanks) that I put 2 & 2 together. I KNOW; I'm quick like that! My point is, maybe you've been putting something on without thinking about it? Very Happy

Well now that you MENTIONED IT, I realize now I do put aromatic compounds on my neck & chest near there (just barely a drop) now and then before going out.

It was most likely sun damage. I have found the same to be true with my skin, after a few days in the sun and no sunscreen brown spots will pop up only to fade within a couple of weeks.

It could be that your skin self healed itself.
