I used to really love Estee Lauder foundations - but in recent years whenever I've gone to purchase some of my old faves all of the pale colours have changed and been made darker! It's driving me insane trying to find really pale foundation that has the right coverage. I used to really love Futurist - but the lightest colour is now WAAAAAAY too dark for me, they totally changed the formula and colours of the Maximum Cover range - not happy. Now I just cant use Estee Lauder foundations at all.
I'm thinking of having a look at the Clinique counter when I'm at the shops next... |

Hi Glamcat. Visit the Lancome counter. They have great colors and different formulas for different skin types. You can also ask for a sample. The little plastic bottle will last about a week, giving you plenty of time to test the product on your skin. |

Thanks Determined I should give Lancome a go - it's been at least 15 years since I tried their foundations - back then I tried several and didnt like any of them but I'm sure they have changed over that time...
I sometimes think too that it could be a regional thing - that these cosmetics companies think that all Australians are tanned and bronzed - they forget that many of us are of Celtic origin and have pale skin, etc. I came to this conclusion after seeing the colours available here in stores, but then went on-line to see greater colours ranges in the USA for example.
But I'll definitely have a look at Lancome - thanx for the tip |

I am very pale skinned and find it hard to find a good foundation.
My next purchase is going to be Chanel Pro Lumiere in Limpid, it's very pale and matched my skin nicely. |

Estee Lauder foundations always turn orange on me-I've tried sample so many times.
No "cheap" makeup changes colour that bad on me and usually my makeup never does that.
I used to like a spray sunscreen they had- it used to be oil free and a clear spray.
But a few years ago they changed that and now it is a spray lotion and not the same.
I also found in smelling all the women's perfumes they are all so flowery. for me I hate flowery perfumes, but they seem popular with many people.
For foundation I like Makeup Forever- they have a face and body makeup gel that holds up great to humidity. it is also a 50ml bottle, so great too.
Elizabeth Arden has a nice makeup in a bottle that dispenses as a foam.
I used to really like that one,but now use mineral powder I really like.
Clinique is pretty good too-I have not tried their makeup lately, but used to really like it.
From the drugstore I actually found Maybeline was good, Cover Girl nothing they make matches my skin tone...everything is too light or too dark and pink looking! |

Ottawa Shopper - you are right - Estee Lauder have changed so much and it's annoying! lol and yes quite a few of their foundations do turn orange, which for me was another reason why I purchased their palest shades.
I tried an Arden one when I was young - it was a spray mousse type of creation - that wasn't bad but now I need more coverage.
I've never been a Clinique person but I've read really good reviews about their foundations.
I'm actually really liking a Maybelline one right now which is unusual for me as I dont normally buy drugstore foundations - but it is an old version of Age Rewind in Porcelain Ivory - I stocked up on a few bottles because the newer version they replaced it with is about 4 shades darker in what is supposed to be the same colour! go figure! |

Bermie, I've actually been thinking for a while that I should try a Chanel foundation - I need full coverage and hydrating.
I tried some Dior ones but even the palest shade is too dark on me - and an added bonus it turns orange as well!
