I started using the Obagi system a week ago and my face is red, burning and yesterday morning was swollen as well. It is peeling which I knew would happen but my real concern is under my eyes....I look like I have aged 10 years!! I thought it was to help lines and wrinkles but instead I have tons more...it actually feels like I have no hydration under my eyes. I wish I could post a picture so you knew what I meant...I truly look 10 years older. Someone please tell me this is normal!!! ADVICE??! |

Did you jump in using them nightly, retin-a and HQ? Its best to start off slower to give you skin a chance to adjust some so you don't have such an intense reaction. Burning and swollen is not good, you skin is way too irritated. Back off on them for a bit to let you skin calm down.
Retin-a will help with fine lines but it takes several months and your skin will likely look worse before it gets better but it should not be as irritated as you describe. |

Thanks so much for the reply...I was actually so freaked out yesterday. I started out using the system morning and night and I had read about the side effects (red and peelng)so I was expecting that but the swelling and the severe wrinkling under the eyes freaked me out. This morning is really just flaking (BUT my under eyes still look awful) I don't want to stop now if I am through the worst as I have heard nothing but how fantastic this system is BUT on the other hand, if this thing under my eyes is permanent or going to get worse then thats a different story. Have you heard of this before (under eye thing) and should I back off to once a day?? Again THANK you so much for replying and helping me feel someone is out there!! |

Oh and as far as the Retin-A cream I havent really used it yet...I was waiting to see how I did with the system first before I added the cream. I had heard about Ret-A before and knew I wanted to go slow with that |

I had the under the eyes thing happen to me ONCE from Retin-a -- I didn't apply it directly under my eyes it just somehow crept up there - I looked like I had undereye skin of a 110 year old man! lol it took a few days and a lot of TLC with very gentle moisturizer but it resolved itself... I think people at work were looking at me weird for a bit wondering what I had done to myself! |

Which Obagi system are you using? Are you just using the blender? |

I have been on so many blogs and sites reading about this product line and the issues people have. I honestly thought after a week or 2 I would be fine but after reading everything I have today I am seeing that this could last the entire 3 months...goodness, not sure I can do this?? I can't wear make-up or anything...and I am a public speaker so this is not going to be easy And I have read to not use any moisturizer?? Can someone that has been through this give me some positive, good news because i really haven't read any!! HELP!!
GirlieGirl....I am using the whole system...came in the box....minus the Retin-A cream now...I have it but have been afraid to use it...especially after these first few days. |

Have you contacted the office where you purchased your products? They should be able to give you some advice.
Obagi makes more then one system, I will assume you are using NuDerm since that seems to be the most common. So you using the Blender? You have had a strong reaction to it considering you are not using the retin-a. I would suggest you stop to let you skin recover. You will not benefit from all this irritation. Use moisturizer if you need it. |
