Could be Keratosis Pilaris but I'd see a derm for a proper diagnosis. Otherwise you are just guessing and what ever you use to treat it could make it worse. |

A pharmacist may be willing to examine your daughter's skin if you don't have health insurance? The important thing is whether there is a yeast infection that needs addressing. For dry skin generally a product containing urea, lactic acid or hyaluronic acid can be beneficial as these are all the skin's natural moisturisers.
If the diagnosis is keratosis pilaris, one treatment is making sure the diet contains enough long chain omega-3 essential fats. To get these we should all be consuming a minimum of two portions of oily fish each week; personally my skin (KP and eczema) needs more. These nutrients have a huge range of health benefits, so you might consider overhauling the diet while you are waiting to see the dermatologist? You might also play with other fats your daughter eats as the ratio of healthy (olive oil, avocados, nuts, seeds) to unhealthy (animal, hydrogenated) fats is also important.

I did take her to the doctor a couple of years ago about it and
and he just told her to use Aveeno skin Relief moisturizing lotion
which did absolutely nothing. It's not from a yeast infection. I think
it's more likely inherited her dad has skin just like it. I was wondering
the same thing if products that have lactic acid or hyaluronic acid would
really help. Her diet is good and she doesn't eat any junk food and she does
take vitamins other then the fish oils, She started having this problem back
in the 2nd grade and has had it ever since. |
