I was on 20mg a day for about 4 months, now I'm on 40mg a day (has been about a month now) and my skin doesn't seen any different. In fact, my keratosis pilaris on my arms and legs seems to be getting worse.

I was on Accutane in my 20s (I'm 42 now) and back then, it helped for about a year or two. I'm tempted to just give up and use topicals since it's so expensive and doesn't seem to be working.

Anyone have any advice?

Are you on the Accutane just for KP or do you have acne issues you are trying to resolve also?

Remember that our bodies are SOOOOOO different in 40's than 20's so the results you have will vary of course too...

I'm sure you've been warned of this... but just 'cause it's not doing anything on the outside... which must be incredibly frustrating, keep in mind it's easily doing a number on your insides. Kidneys, liver, etc...

KP is very hard to control. A quick google of acutane and KP shows people complaining of the KP getting worse, not better? Have not researched in depth... check that out...

Retin A actually works really well on KP - have you tried that topical yet?

Ahhh Yes! I was going to mention this too but didnt want to be too alarmist! lol Laughing but seriously with all of the internal harm that Accutane does you could not pay me a million dollars to take that stuff! end up with worse problems! Shock

I'm on it for my facial acne. I've tried retin a in the past for my KP and it made my skin really dry. Now I'm using paula's choice bha body lotion. I may try retin a again and moisturize well.

I'm not going to take anymore of my Accutane - thanks for the advice everyone.
