I recently won a bottle of Obagi Sunfader from the spa where I bought my Obagi products. I did not purchase Sunfader with my initial products - just mild cleanser, toner, Clear, and Blender. Oh, and 10% Vit C serum. (I already had a tube of .05 Retin-A and the esty said I'd be fine finishing up my MD Forte Face Lotion III glycolic in place of Exfoderm. She also said I was fine using my Neutrogena SPF 100 Spectrum + face sunscreen since I was happy with it.)

I was hesitant to add yet another active product (I've just been using Obagi for a week, getting some minor peeling and dryness but am trying to balance between not totally frying my 54 year old face but still making progress.) She suggested I use the Sunfader in the morning in place of the Clear so, cleanse, toner, Vit C, Sunfader, MD Forte glycolic, sunscreen.

Any reason why this would be a bad idea? The idea was to be able to use the free product in some way since I didn't care to add it on top of everything else. I'd still use the regular Clear in the evening.

(First post - hope I'm doing this right! I've done quite a bit of searching - that's partly why I was hesitant to add Sunfader after reading how many people were sensitive to it. But I haven't found this particular use discussed. If it has, please point me in the right direction!)

Thank you!

Jeany, in my opinion the Sunfader is the one product that people have trouble with (red, burning). I think using it with a glycolic on top may make the Sunfader sink in deeper and potentially cause even more problems. Maybe you could try the Sunfader without the glycolic for a short time first to see how your skin reacts just to the Sunfader and if no problems, then try your outlined routine. Just a suggestion. I hope this post goes through. I tried multiple times yesterday to answer you, but this site was horrible yesterday.

Thank you! I wonder what it is about Sunfader that causes so many people problems. Maybe it's not the actual ingredients but having them combined? It almost seems like an afterthought in the line - SPF 15 is kind of a joke when you're using the other products.

Anyway, think I'll take it slow as you suggest. I'd rather make steady progress forward, even if it's slow, than overdo something and have to pause to heal!

Thank you!
