Hi

We've been discussing the Haflick limit on the DIY anti-aging thread
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=4304

Dianne has come up with a potential remedy. It appears topical Carnosin might be one way of extending it (the Hayflick limit). Has anyone tried or heard of this particular cream?
http://www.biovita.fi/english/tuotteet/carnosine_cream.html

I see there are some other multi-vit creams using Carnosine around online but they don't look particularly sound.

This one looks most interesting.

Hi Molly,

I got really excited when I started finding all these web sites linking carsonine to a possible treatment which may allow us to avoid the hayflick. So I went to the smartskincare site and found this thread...

http://www.smartskincare.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=70

It would appear that another product called Beta Alistine is also on the market. Unfortunately, Dr. Todorov promptly extinguished any hope I had of a way around this "hayflick limit" problem. (As you can tell, I REALLY don't want to give up my AHA's)

I sent him the same links I posted here and this is what he said in response (quote)....

"Carnosine may mitigate senescent phenotype in a tissue culture, but it does not prevent telomere shortening and therefore does not help you escape the Hayflick limit."

Ok so my little pee brain isn't quite that capable of wrapping itself around that answer but I get the gist of it. However, I'm still keeping my hopes alive that quite possibly carsonine will one day be an option and I'll be able to exfoliate until my heart's content.

Hey guys

I'm from Australia where the Beta Alistine products are made, so I decided to try some of their products out.

Now, although they are meant to be anti aging products for older people, I am actually in my early 20's, with combination acne prone skin. I had completly mistreated it in the past and had sun damage, acne scarring, and eczema/rosecea patches.

I found that the Rocket Science Line Delete Serum was fantastic and didn't break me out, and after applying it for one night I completly noticed a change in my skin (for the better).

Now, about a month later, there are definate improvements. I use the Normal Moisturiser, Rocket Science Line Delete Serum, AHA Serum and Toner.

I have also got the Rocket Science Eye Serum, but although it seems to work, it seems petrolium based and I don't like the consistency on my skin because it makes me oilier.

Combined with a new regime of Dermalogica cleansers, exfoliants and masks, my skin is much improved.

I cannot tell you about hayflick limits and whether they have increased, but my skin is definately holding more moisture, it has evened out tones and now with the Dermalogica products, has almost completly got rid of my eczema/rosecea.

If you are going to try anything from the range, try the Rocket Science Line Delete Serum, with the moisturizer and toner if you want to spend extra.

When putting on the Rocket Science Line Delete Serum for the first time, I got this strange feeling, exceptional warmth like my face was burning, but not in the cheamical way ... it it hard to decribe. I was a bit scared at first, but the next day after seeing results i persisted. By the second time, it was just an warmth (like I had hot fingers) and now weeks later it feels normal. (To be honest, I'm sad because the warmth was kind of nice). I don't know what the reaction is, but at least I know there are active ingredients.

Sorry for the long (rave) post, but I thought I'd share my experiences with the range.
