I agree! Bare Escentuals foundations are pretty good. Though I am finding that it takes a while to get the application method right. I think a lot of people give up too soon and end up hating the product. But it's not the product that's at fault but the application. If you don't the method right you will end up with a cakey mess.

| Hmmm... I tried their foundation and cant say I like it. The thing is that it really intensify my pores and I just cant get it to look as good on me as on others. I watched the whole video that came with my order and followed their exact instructions ( swirl...swirl...tap...tap...) but I still cant get it right. Their brushes are a little tough and the hair keeps coming off and sticking to my face, I tried it for a few times and finally gave up. Maybe you ladies can give few a few pointers? |

| I also used Bare Minerals and loved it. I had bad break outs for the past couple of years and about 2 weeks after I quit "plugging" my pores with liquid foundation my face cleared up almost 100%! I do agree that it took me a couple of applications to actually get the coverage and application down correctly. I am a huge mineral makeup fan but am also in college and for those that want the same effect but cannot afford Bare Minerals try everydayminerals.com I just started using them and like their product just as well! |

Have to stay on the fence here, I did not like the foundations or concealer at all, my pores looked huge, I didn't even know I had fine lines until I used this and my skin appeared really shiny. The eyeshadows I could not get to work for me either, they just would not stick to my lids.
However the eyeliner shadows are fantastic!!! |

I guess it's okay, if you can tolerate bismuth. I can't, so it's a big thumbs down for me. Plus the shinyness (sort of irridescence) made me look oily. I guess that's the 'soft focus finish'  . Also it settles into lines, (and I'm 23, so I bet it's much worse on older people who actually have wrinkles!) I recently switched to Physician's Formula loose mineral powder and so far am loving it. |

| I used BE for about a year. I read some excellent reviews on this site about Pure Luxe Mineral Makeup. I love the colors and the great customer service. I am in love with the Line Eraser which is wonderful for minimizing pores and fine lines! |

If it's the cost that makes you not use mmu, you might want to try physician's formula. It was less than $10 for a big tub, and came with a $2 off coupon. Also, if you buy from walgreen's or cvs you can return it if you get the wrong color or don't like it.
Of course, you are right, that nothing is for everybody! |

I tried BE years ago - the bismuth made me itch and the shine made me look like a "bronze goddess". That'd be great except it wasn't the look I was going for.
There are many more mineral makeup lines available now with wide ranges of colors and tones. Most offer generous samples for a couple of dollars each so it's not too spendy to experiment with different lines to see which one suits you the best. |

I'm not sure if you were asking me, but I have oily skin and it works for me. I think that with any mmu it is important to moisturize well if your face isn't oily (or maybe even if it is), but if you moisturize it should be fine. |

1. Can I still use my favorite one-step cleanser/makeup remover Yonka Gel Nettoyant to the BE off?
2. Any Asian here tried BE? Is the BE shades/colours suitable for light Asian skin tone?

| KK - I am Asian and used BE's beige and medium beige but it didnt suit me, it was way too dark so I am using fairly light and light and sorta mix them before I apply and is a bit more natural looking. I am not crazy about this product since I get tiny little red rashes on my face sometimes when I used BE (not everytime). Although they do not itch and not very obvious , the rashes are still there. Normally, my skin are not at all sensitive and I really dont know what is causing the irritation. I have learned to lessen the size of my pores since my previous reply and that is to put on mineral veil before I apply the foundation. I purchased the starter kit as well, mine came with 2 foundations, mineral veil, 1 foundation brush, 2 kabuki brushes, 1 concealer brush. But like I said their brushes are not really my cup of tea,the foundation and kabukis' hair keep falling off every time I use them and that's rather bothersome. |

However, the best color I've found for mineral makeup is Jane Iredale golden glow. This also seems to blend a little easier. I find both a little drying, but mist my face with a hydrating spray a couple times a day and this works well. |

Thank you ladies for answering my questions. I am on the pale side but with a yellow tone, and am on holiday this week and hoping to get some sun. So I will be in between shades anyway, maybe it's not a good idea to get a starter kit now. I will still go to Sephora tomorrow to check it out. Will report back to let you know shade I end up with. I used this product for awhile and really liked it. However, I'm pretty busy in the am, and swim often and it was a real pain to bring with me and use in the locker room.
I'm going to try Colorscience which has rave reviews, works like bare minerals, but with an applicator inside, you just twist it up and apply. It also supposedly lasts in water up to 4-6 hours??? Very interested to see if that's true!

Just recently I bought the kit that Sephora has on for $60US its got the foundations, brushes, skin vitamins, warmth, and mineral veil. Well- I don't like the foundations at all- I have golden tanned/olive skin and the foundation looked like I just dusted baby powder on my face- and it is the right shade for my skin. And I think I have the application method down pact- swirl, swirl, tap tap- I watched the instructional DVD enought times! What I do love is the mineral veil- it keeps my skin from getting greasy/shiny, the warmth- is a good bronzer, and the brushes are great- so in the end it was worth it to buy the kit- only the foundations sucked. I think it takes a little more work than needed for the foundations to look right- I hear people are mixing their own shades- but I don't have the patience or money for that! |

I agree! The method is #! but once you get it down, then everything is easy! Stay with it all you I. D testers out there. Don't give up untill you get the application down. If you put on too much, you look silly! (done it B4). If you go to the website, you can get cool tips on how @ apply.
