We all know never to mix (or layer) Vitamin C and Copper Peptides.
What are some other mixing no-no's?
Is it ok to mix Retin-A with Vitamin C?
Is it ok to mix Retin-A with AHA? |

| I wouldn't mix retin-a with AHAs, or any other acid for that matter, you'll end up with a mess of inflamed skin. |

I'm not sure what the process is but my skin specialist (and she has 32 years experience and has a Health Science degree) has told me that glycolic acid/AHA's inactivate Retin-A - probably a bit like Benzoyl Peroxide inactivating Retin-A.
Before I knew about this reaction I had previously used glycolic and Retin-A together and it left my skin an inflammed irritated mess - that's just my experience, so I'm not sure if it is this irritation that is the result of the inactivation of the Retin-a.
I'm sure there is someone who has a scientific answer for it on EDS |

I am using Glycolic and Retin-A together woops, thank you for the info. If I still wanted to use both actives though what would be a good method of doing it? |

She might have meant the other ingredients in a Glycolic/AHA product can inactivate RA.
Glycolic acid can actually enhance penetration (and cause increased irritation).

Thanks for that, I have to admit not looking at that just reading the rest of the quote, I guess a good Retinol product should also include the Glycolic for a stronger formula.  |

The Avene Triacneal is based on Retinaldehyde and Glycolic if you'd like to try. This is the improved version replacing Diacneal. |

| I do not mix Retin A with anything, I use it at night and only use Emu oil after application to hydrate and minimize irritation, but I use Vic C in the morning then. the upper layer (dead skin) rolls off easier and the new layer is healthy then. |
