The last few years I have noticed sun spots on my decollete area and I am doing what I can to lighten them. I am also loving a self tanner that I got this summer so I could stay out of the sun and help them to not get any worse.

Since summer is now over, I am going to work on lightening them so my question is this. If I use a self tanner, will they not go away? Or if I lighten them, will only the sun bring them back? I figured, the self tanner brings out pigment in your skin so I wasn't sure how that worked.

Also, is there a difference between sun spots and age spots or are they basically the same thing? I'm 35, not sure if that matters lol

I would keep using the self tanner but use a cotton swab to apply a nice AHA serum over the top so they can still fade, this way you wont be applying outside the spot. There is a difference between sun spots and age spots they caused by different reasons but look very similar. What tanner are you using?

I usually do a self tanner on a Thurs so I can have a tan for the weekend then scrub on Sunday and try to do all my acid treatments, etc. You think the tanner will darken them?

I use one called Fake Bake that my sister picks up at a professional beauty supply store.

You could put something over the spots while applying the tan. What is the tanner like? I might try it, I have been looking for a good self tanner.

This is what I get http://fakebake.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FBTU&Product_Code=FBRC-01&Category_Code=FakeBake

But it's 17.50 at the store she gets it at but she has a cosmetology license so she gets it cheaper than full retail. It gives the most beautiful brown color but it's a gel so it gets on your sheets at night, it washes right off no problem though. I sleep with an untucked sheet on top of me and a light blanket instead of under the covers because that way I feel like I can move around.

If you want a drier option, I get cans of a a tanning forumula called Sunnybuns from a lady in Tampa. It's great and easy to use. Neither of these two products make you smell after you wash off. I am SOOOO picky about that nasty smell. I'm sure she ships but I don't know much because it's something else my sister picks up for me lol She's my tanning slave Smile Here's the link for that one http://www.safariairbrush.com/SunnyBuns/sunnyinstant.jpg
