I have sensitive/rosacea type skin, and I'm looking for a loose powder that won't irritate my face. Has anyone tried either Physicians Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder or Almay Nearly Naked Loose Powder? I figure these two cosmetic lines were created for sensitive skin. I'm so tired of looking for a simple powder! Everything bothers my skin, leaving it sore and red. Even my eyes start to hurt. Embarassed I once used a product called "Lavera" which was great! They changed their formulation.
Anyways, if anyone out there with sensitive skin can suggest a powder, please do!
Thanks,
Linda

I have tried both but can remember looking at the ingredient lists and noticing the ingredient list for the Almay is more suited towards sensitive skin. I am also using the pressed powder they sell and loving it for long lasting wear.

What about a Jane Iredale Pressed Mineral Makeup? I tried the samples a few years ago and they were fine on my skin. I can't really wear powders normally either for exactly the same reason as you - they all really irritate my skin making it sore and red.

I personally haven't tried Jane Iredale Pressed Powder Mineral Makeup but as the basic rules for choosing a makeup for sensitive skin are followed then it shouldn't be an issue Smile

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate hearing from women with the same issues. As of three years ago, I was able to wear just about any product on my skin. I sometimes wonder if all the hidden chemicals changed my skin structure.

That could have possibly been the case, My Aestician told me if the skin is exposed to bad chemicals for too long a period of time it eventually starts to become weaker but she also said to bear in mind that it's different everyones skin same with what some can handle others cannot. I think it could have possibly damaged the skin that cant be seen. However if you start taking the right steps towards better skin care then it can became healthy again.

I wonder if it has anything to do with all these 'advances' in skincare. Years ago nearly all makeup was the same, talc, oxides and fragrance. Now theres more 'cones than a road works site and lots of minerals cleverly coated in synthetic substances to improve wear and blending. Makes you wonder....

In Australia we've got a sudden epidemic of coeliacs disease, something that was once extemely obscure and rare. Now every man and his dog is gluten intolerant. What's happened? Hybrid wheat is whats happened and 'advances' in processing technology. A lot of coeliacs I know can eat wheat products just fine in Asia, but not the local stuff.

I agree it most likely does have something to o with all the 'advances' in skincare unfortunately though I did not ask her about this. There are loads of bad chemicals these days and it's very hard to find one that dosent have these in it unless you have the knowledge to pick one that dosent.

This is so true. I find it strange that there is only ONE product out there that I'm able to wear. (the old Lavera formulation.) I've gone through about a dozen other lines, and it's the same story. Within a few hours after application, my skin starts to feel strange, and my eyes start to feel dry and swell up. That always makes you feel good when you look in the mirror.....lol Embarassed
I can't wear eye makeup anymore due to the rosacea. When I was able to wear the Lavera (before they changed their ingredients), my skin looked very nice. I would hate to have to go to a wedding completely bare faced. I used to wear makeup to work, and now that's all changed. (Lipstick only.)
Please throw in a few suggestions ladies on what brand of loose/compact powder that I might be able to tolerate.

GlamCat - Since I read your post, I phoned the Jane Iredale company and ordered a sample of their loose powder that will be sent in the mail. Thanks for the suggestion! I was surprised to find out that they don't even charge for mailing. I sure hope this works!

Hi,
I've been using the jane iredale mineral products for years. I dont have extremely sensetive skin but love how it didn't clog my pores and provided with nice sheer-medium coverage that's also healthy for my skin. Hope you like it too. I've tried lots of mineral powders and JI seemed to look less 'powdery' and more natural.

I have noticed many people on EDS have had good experiences with Jane Iredale foundation. I dont have overly sensitive skin but it is sensitive. So would have to recommend you give that a try. I personally am loving the mineral powder foundation by Chi Chi at the moment, it has great blending abilities and dosent flare up my rosacea.

That's good to know Dionie. I'm going to give it a try as soon as my sample shows up in the mail. I just find it so strange that my skin rejects everything! Sad As of three years ago I was normal, then the rosacea set in and changed things for me.

Okay echoecho, I'll write Chi Chi down on my long list of powders to try out. (We actually wrote our last replies at the same time. Yours went in ahead of mine.)
Does your rosacea affect your eyes? I unfortunately can't wear eye makeup or contact lenses anymore. I'm a wreck.....lol.

I have rosacea on my cheeks mainly so no it dosent really affect my eyes but it's a pain to try and cover up.

Give some of these powders a go, hopefully your eyes wont react so badly Smile
