The one from All Day Chemist. Can someone who has it describe to me the colour, consistency and smell? I received mine for the very first time, and it has a weird citric smell to it. It also leaves a chalky residue on my skin. Mine also has a yellow-y tint to it.

I have some Stieva-A which is apparently just Retin-A in a different brand, Canadian or something I think and it has a weird smell and has each time I've bought it. I've bought it here in Australia on prescription so I know it's authentic. It's a pale yellow colour with a pearly type of sheen to it and it leaves a streaky residue.

I also have some authentic Retin-A by Jansen Cilag (spelling?) and it's white, has no smell at all and blends right in without leaving a cast.

I think it's just a matter of different brands being in a different base.

I think this is the case with the retin-a cream they sell, as others have reported the same aspects of it.

My retin a cream from ADC smells like PVA glue but seems to still work o.k it does seem harder to absorb into the skin justs needs to be rubbed in a bit more, I think after trying both gel and cream I prefer the gel

The generics definitely have different bases, some good and some not so good. Be assured, the active ingredient will be the same, though.

That said, I wasn't aware that Retin A Micro was not protected by patents anylonger. If it was, then I would be offered the generic one when I pick up my script for RAM at the pharmacy. Generics are always offered to me with my insurance policy since the insurance co would rather pay for the cheaper script.

In any case, I have noticed that when I apply my RAM occasionally, I will get a white film (ever so slight) on my face. I experimented and found that I need to put a DOT of the RAM on one area of my face, spread it in, and then proceed to the next area and repeat the process. It seems to dry very fast so working in small areas at a time works better. I will put a dot on my forehead, spread it in; put a dot on a cheek and spread that in; a dot on the other cheek and spread, a dot on chin and spread, a dot on upper lip and nose and spread.

Maybe trying that approach will help?

On the patent issue - does anyone know when the patent expired or if it has yet? (Lacy??)

You will find that with different variations of Retin-A, they aren't exactly luxurious like other creams but they work. The the active is just incorporated into a very basic base.
