I'm hoping someone can help me, I have been getting pimples that start like out like a normal pimple but don't go away, then morph into kind of like a lump with a hard core. If I manage to get hold of it and pull it out, (and lord have I done some damage to myself doing that!!!), sometimes it heals and goes away, other times it grows back. I reminds me of a wart I had as a kid. If I leave them alone, they heal over but leave a scar looking thing that becomes really noticeable if I put tanning lotion on, it grabs onto it and becomes really dark. Sometimes, if I leave it alone for a month or so and then squeeze the scar, I will get something out and it goes away. I don't get a lot of them maybe two or three a year but they are nasty and always in a horrible visual place, like my neck or chest area. Does anyone have any idea what these are and what to do about them, they are driving me crazy.
Thanks

Hi!
Sounds like it could be a boil or cystic acne: these infections are very deep in the skin so should not be extracted except by a medical professional. Prevention is generally better than cure but how to achieve that depends on what the cause and contributing factors are. Are your diet and lifestyle generally healthy? Are you keeping your towels, clothing, bedlinen, washcloths and make up brushes scrupulously clean? Do your beauty products contain harsh or irritant ingredients? Do you have any other symptoms that might suggest a hormone imbalance? |

Absolutely see a dermatologist. These don't sound like typical pimples and you could easily spread the infection by picking at it. |
