Can a cleanser or toner with plant extracts (like green tea) be used before a C serum (LAA) . I dont have enough time to wait too much time between the 2. thanks in advance. |

Yes, they can be used together without interference. In fact, they work together so using GT or grape extracts with your C+E is even better than C+E alone.
I'm actually working on a micro-gel with C+E+ferulic acid+grape extract+tea extract+resveratrol+quercetin right now.
EDIT: I should mention that a cleanser or something that you wash off quickly won't actually stay on your skin long enough to absorb it, so a GT cleanser probably wouldn't do you much good to begin with, but it certainly won't hurt anything either. |

I don't think I've ever heard of green tea reacting with vitamin C. Just don't put any acids on your face when you're putting on the C serum |

I made vitamin C serums for some time and I've always heard never mix green tea or other plant extracts with vitamin C UNLESS if you use a chelator, thats the reason of my question.
"Vit C Formulations should not use tap water or plant extracts, because even trace metal ions (often present in plants) when combined with Vitamin C, can be Pro-oxidative to the skin. (cause increase free radical or oxidation damage)"

I wouldn't be concerned with green tea or other plant extracts in a cleanser because you do rinse it off. Rather the pH. Cleansers are generally high pH (alkali) so you would be better off with a short wait for your skin to balance out. The LAA is low pH and that increases the potential for irritation. Not a problem if your cleanser has a pH ~5.5.
I would wait between a toner and LAA.
Actually I don't have much time as well (who does anyway? ) so I skip toners entirely and use LAA on bare skin. |
