Just curious.... I noticed that some of you have said that the reaura and tria make the skin more plump. Do any of you own a microcurrent also? And if so, which do you think gives your face more volume the laser or the microcurrent? It's all so confusing as both perform different functions... Thanks, Aprile Very Happy

Personally, I believe any plumping from the laser treatments would be due to inflammation. IMO the laser devices are more suited for skin refinement and collagen stimulation.

Microcurrent does not provide any plumping either. This treatment is more for lifting - but is supposed to be beneficial for skin health as well.

Lack of facial fullness is due to loss of fat - so trying to replace that fat without getting fillers is difficult. Some would argue that collagen rebuilding helps - but it's a slow process and is not as visibly evident as replacing lost fat.

I 100% agree on the inflammation aspect, though I think one could see the impact of the collagen stimulation at 4-6 months at the earliest. But not to the degree that the face would really look fuller...especially since the Fraxel Refine that the ReAura is based on is only supposed to help fine wrinkles (not deep ones).

While these lasers do help collagen stimulation, the primary benefit is the pixelated ablative technology that limits downtime by focusing on treating only 20% of your skin cells at one time.

Thanks for your response ladies... food for thought. However, since none of the lasers are available yet for purchase in the US, I guess I will wait for Nanci's microcurrent device. I have read a lot of good things about microcurrent. However, I do believe technique is very important to getting the best results. I saw on the microcurrent thread that Christine has posted some great free videos. Best, Aprile

I believe you can now purchase the lasers on Ebay. But just bear in mind that microcurrent and Fraxel laser are entirely different and you cannot really substitute one for the other.

My ReAura has stopped working, the device is powered up but I can't get a laser output.

I spoke to the Philip's ReAura Specialist and in some cases the detachable tip just wears out.

They are sending me a replacement tip, today, so will report back if that fixes it, I have also asked for some text on what the rest of you do if the tip wears out, and is it covered by the warranty and after the warranty expires how much does a new one cost us.

Should have an email from Philips this week.

I couldn't find anywhere in the user manual that the tip needed to be replaced at intervals, did anyone else spot this one?

Thanks PQ for asking ReAura about this. I looked through the manual and didn't see any mention about the tip needing to be replaced. Did you try cleaning the laser window with a wet cotton bud? I was using a dry one and it didn't work as well. Just a thought.

CookieD, thanks for the top tip, no pun intended, have tried everything, it still won't work, should have the new tip in a few days, I think that should fix it, will get more details on their replacement policy.

Philip - seeing as how you're using both devices - what is your theory on why the Tria doesn't need the gel?

I'll also be interested to hear why the tip gave out.

Toby, I am sure an hoping so! I anticipate that I will definitely have my usual inflammation issues, but at least I can do it at my own pace if I encounter problems.

Best wishes for success. Please let us know how it goes. I want one toooo..... Smile

Hi PQ, I decided to start another round today on my neck, hands and first round on my forearms. As I was cleaning the tip I was thinking about what could go wrong with it. It doesn't have any electronic parts. Just the little metal bits on the top part that's towards the skin and the little metal pieces inside the tip. These metal pieces inside are kind of like the flat metal pieces that a battery would make contact with inside a flashlight or remote control. Is there a chance that one of these flat metal pieces got bent or pushed too far towards the plastic sides. If this happened it would not be able to make contact with the two metal contact points on the side of the laser. The only other thing I could think is if there was something on the two metal contact points on the side of the laser that was causing it not to make contact with the cap. Hope it turns out to be something easy. I would hate to have something go wrong with mine.

I am pretty sure it isn't the contact with the laser device, via the two connectors but the connection to the skin via the two sensors at the end of the tip. With repeated use I wonder if there is slight corrosion, and they must be using a tiny amount of current to sense the skin contact, which is the safety lock, so the laser only fires when the tip senses contacts with skin, so it will only need a very small amount of corrosion to impact on the resistance at the tips, which would impact on the level of current flowing across the tips.

Will report back once I have the new tip and the email from Philips about their replacement policy.

I have been looking out for the best laser product or device in market to suggest my clients when they approach me . I have read many reviews on many leaser devices and finally got some good and informative stuff from ReAura Laser Device from Philips. And I have even suggested many of my clients to use this product.

Panic over!

My new tip arrived from Philips free of charge.

If you have a similar problem contact:

Hannah
Philip SkinCare Expert
Tel: 0844 338 0489

The ReAura is working as good as new!

I then soaked my old tip in dilute washing up liquid over night, and now the old tip is working again, so it must have been a build up of treatment gel on the metal contacts - building up enough resistance so the device did no sense it was in contact with my skin.

All fixed.

Thanks PQ for the information. Maybe I'll soak my tip in some soapy water just in case.

Make sure you dry it really well, so it doesn't corrode, I use one of Evie's old toothbrushes, to give it a light brushing in the solution.

I soaked my tip in some soapy water and cleaned it with a baby toothbrush. I even used a hairdryer on it for a few seconds to make sure it was dry. I haven't had any problems with it but I do clean mine after each use with the brush that's included. I also leave it out to dry overnight before I put it back in the case. Maybe if it's put into the case and zipped up while still damp that might give it a chance to corrode
a little.

PQ seems like you got the new tip really quick. It would probably take a little longer to get one sent to the US but it's good to know that ReAura stands behind their product.

I clean my tip after every treatment (as per instructions) but I notice that there's never really any gel to wash off. I think this is because I use so little gel - the tip and the screen never get gummed up.

I wonder if it's possible to use too much gel - I find a pea amount does the whole face.

They tried to deliver mine today, but I wasn't here darn it!

Btw, I have been very impressed with the seller I purchased from...he checked in and let me know that it would be delivered today. He even purchased extra gel and shipped it to me with my unit!

I don't really have any gel on my tip either when I go to clean it but I know when I was using the other gel I bought I had a lot of junk on the tip because I had to use a lot more of that gel. (it dried out really quick and you always had to add more) Maybe that is what happened to PQ since he is using aloe gel.

Also thank you PQ for the idea about using the baby toothbrush to clean the tip. I like it a lot better then the one that came with the ReAura.

It arrived and I will be trying it this weekend!

FYI that I paid £720+£42 for shipping. He claimed far less on the customs form, and I did not owe any thing at delivery.

Does anyone know the pulse energy for the Reaura on level 2 and 3?

Someone else posted the info for the Tria and I would be curious to compare the two
(Tria SRL wave length
Level 1 pulse energy - 5mj, 30 seconds
Level 2 pulse energy - 10mj one minute
Level 3 pulse energy - 12mj, 2.5 minutes)

I am really enjoying this thread (and the Tria thread!) Please keep posting your results and findings etc. as it is very much appreciated!
Cheers
