Right now I'm deciding between DDF Sulfur Mask and NCN Acne Mask. I'll be using it primarily to spot-treat.
Anyone has any suggestions? Is it better to just buy some clay at Garden of Wisdom and do it myself? |

Maybe post the ingredients list of each product? |

Aztec healing clay is amazing. It literally pulses stuff out of your skin |

NCN Acne Mask
Ingredients: Sea Kelp Bioferment, Kaolin Clay, Bentonite Clay, Turmeric Root Powder, Mustard Powder, Goat Milk Powder, Organic Willow Bark Extract, Sodium Bicarbonate, Carrot Seed Oil, Allantoin, Iron Oxide.
DDF Sulfur Mask
Water, Bentonite, Propylene Glycol, Talc, Kaolin, Titanium Dioxide, PVP, Diazolidinyl Urea, Glycerin, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Sodium PCA, Allantoin, Propylparaben, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Benzyl Alcohol.
Where can I can aztec clay? I see that it's 100% bentonite clay. Would buying bentonite clay from GoW be essentially the same thing? |

On ingredients alone I'd choose the NCN as it contains plenty of actives: SKB is very well thought of on some forums.
The DDF has talc, parabens, fragrance and a laughably small amount of aloe (less than the preservative and fragrance!). IMO not good value for money, especially given it's substantially more expensive than the NCN. |

I still don't understand how clay masks, which are left to dry completely, can both suck impurities OUT of skin, AND lend added actives etc IN. It just doesn't make sense to me and seems like a waste of good actives.
This is why I don't let them dry completely anymore if ever I use them. I also get the sense that there's a risk of them being much too dryng, even for my oily skin. The uncomfortable tugging, and scary feeling that if I made an expression, I'd damage my skin (which I believe I have done w/clay masks) also puts me off.
I also want to seriously warn against Freeman masks. The one time I ever had a massive, hot burning sensation on my face which lasted hours, it was due to a Freeman mask. Not even having anything close to sensitive skin I was horrified and called up the drugstore and gave them hell for selling them. I look at the ingredients lists now and find alcohol as their SECOND & THIRD ingredients after water, and more unnecessary acids & chemicals than not in all their masks (more than any beneficial ingredients they label with to sell), and worry for people using them.
I know they're super cheap, but come on... we can do better than this. |

for acne skin, I'll recommend to use deep cleaning mask - clay based. |

Sorry to hear you experienced an adverse reaction, but that is no reason to take up arms against an entire brand nor abuse store staff! Are you referring to a gel peel off mask? Without alcohol these would take forever to dry. Sometimes AHAs are added to kickstart sloughing so that when you rip the mask off the surface layer comes away easily. |

I've never used NCN's mask.
I love DDF sulfur mask.
If you are looking for a sulfur based mask for acne, I also recommend "being true" therapeutic mask. |

I bought the Garden of Wisdom sulfur mask, so I'll see how well that works. I've been using the NCN acne charcoal bar, and it's been working pretty well. I've got three red spots that have been stubborn but the rest of my face has cleared up, and it doesn't dry out my skin like my glycolic acid cleanser. I'm definitely going to repurchase.
I've been doing some research and stumbled upon the PTR Sulfur mask. I'll probably buy it if ebeauty comes out with a discount code. It has twice the sulfur of the Murad mask, I don't about DDF.
Ingredients:
Water, Bentonite, Kaolin, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Zinc Oxide, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Polysorbate-20, Titanium Dioxide, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Propylparaben. Sulfur U.S.P. 10%. |

Masks for acne prone skin are a super easy DIY. Just order good dead sea clay or rhasoul clay from a wholesaler like Garden of Wisdom or any place recommended in the DIY thread. I find I'm just as happy with masks made of clay mixed with water and a couple drops of tea tree oil as any high end mask. I use DIY masks regularly and ones like the DDF only when breaking out badly. |

I haven't tried either but I don't like the ingredients in #2. So my vote is for the first one! |

The best acne mask I've found is Eminence Garlic and Tomato mask. It was recommended to me at a spa and at first I was very sceptical about it. However, after trying it I noticed that every single breakout I had either was completely gone or much much smaller the next day. It is truly a great product! |
