I just overhauled my products and purchased these two items from SkinActives
collagen serum
and uv repair cream
i also got some GHK copper peptide which I plan to mix into the repair cream. I also have some CoQ10 around that I take internally and may also boost it up a bit with that.
I use DIY vitamin C serum (mix it up daily) and love that...
And finally, Retin A...
I know the GHK has to be separated from vitamin C by 12 hours.
Hannah was inconsistent with her advice on the LMC serum and vitamin C. On one hand she was concerned about its reaction with the EDF in the serum, on the other hand she said if its fresh C it might be ok, then she told me a few minutes was more than enough time for the C to exfoliate and to just wash it off... but I don't use the C for exfoliation, I use it for collagen building.I just couldn't get a straight answer...
My question is this (and its hard to get a straight answer on the SAS forum...)
1) Should I apply my C in the AM and then wash off, then apply the LMC serum? How long do I have to leave my C on to get maximum absorption?
2) Or should I apply the LMC first thing after washing (about 5:30 AM for me) and then apply the C serum on top (to unwashed skin) at about 8 or 8:30 (giving me my 12 hours to apply the UV repair cream with GHK at night)?
Or does any one else have different suggestions for incorporating these 4 actives/ products into a daily routine? |

I don't think you will ever get a 100% response because you want to combine DIY actives with commercial products which also contain actives. It's unlikely anyone has tried that particular combination, and there are too many variables to be sure what will or will not work.
How do you know the CPs and Q10 are compatible with the repair cream? Have you considered whether additional preservatives are necessary? If you are using L-ascorbic acid the pH will be quite low so compatibility could be an issue. Perhaps switch to a non-acidic form of vitamin C? Or experiment with tried and tested combinations? |

You can mix actives with ready commercial products. I do that all the time and Kassy is been doing the same using Juice organics or Cerave as a base.
To be sure , check with the supplier if the ph of the active is compatible with the cream.Buy a meter or PH stripes to measure your creams. If you dont want to have that much trouble, only mix actives that are already in the cream, that way its more difficult to get wrong.
About Coq10, Dr.Pickar uses it (among other anti oxidants) in the Skin Biology products.
And you can mix LAA to a commercial cream, but it will lower the PH. But not much because most ingredients in creams neutralize LAA, thats why commercial C cream are a waste of money ( the PH for a good product should be around PH 3) |
