Do you sometimes feel like you're conning yourself?

and maybe none of this skincare makes a blind bit of difference.

I sometimes think that reading EDS and the 'it worked for me' and 'rave about...' posts convinces me that it is working - but if I really look closely in the mirror it's all in my mind.

Anyone feel the same Confused

yeah sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. People like Judy and Winnie have photographic evidence to prove that some things work. I am doing a mold to see if anything improves in the future. I wish I had the kit before I started using all these new things so that I could do a real before and after.

Let's face it I am a lot older that your Lori. Sad

I think that when a more mature woman starts using an antiaging product she will notice the results much faster than a younger woman (of course if she doesn't wait until it is too late). My face was starting to sag but not to the point that there was nothing I could do about it.

Younger woman might not see the results in their skin care routine as I did. Just think .... if you take good care of yourself before you start having that aging face the good shape you will be in.

Hi there,
I have regular facials and had been purchasing my product at the clinic where I go. I stumbled upon this site one day and upon comparing the prices as well as the fact that I am not subject to PST the saving is well worth it. Also I can take my time in purchasing what I truly want. As for the age thing after 45 you begin to fall apart in the strangest places! My face I can control........

You know, I don't think it's all about the end result -- for me, the pleasure of wonderful skincare is about the process. Even if a cream or potion or serum isn't going to totally transform your skin and make you look 19 again, it's still *worth it* if using a beautiful product adds a little bit of luxury and sensory pleasure to your day. It can give you such a lift to feel that you're pampering and taking care of yourself, and the textures and aromas of gorgeous products can be a joy to experience.

So, I don't know. I think whether we're "conning ourselves" depends upon our attitude. If we really think that the lastest skin cream is going to be THE ANSWER and give us perfect skin, then yes, we probably are. Skin is a living, breathing, changeable organ that reacts and adjusts and changes with us and reflects what's going on around us. It's simply impossible for any product to turn it into a perfect, smooth, unblemished, unchanging mask (and nor would we want it to).

But, if we think of skincare as a small daily ritual that helps us enjoy taking care of ourselves and promotes & nurtures our skin's health, then most definitely, it makes a difference!!

I think it's all about expectations and appreciating products just for what they are -- no more, no less.

Yes, I agree it was really well put Summer, but I think I must fall into another category of user altogether.

I don't enjoy the ritual, the pampering nor the packaging. In fact if I could go back to being in my twenties and just splash my face with water in the mornings and be off I'd be thrilled.

But I'm the sort of user who is really looking for results. I don't expect to have a 19 year old's skin again or any quick turn around, but for me there must be some evidence of change. Change I like.

If there was no promise of change I wouldn't buy any of it.
