Hi I am new here. I was browsing and looking for a good stuff for my skin discoloration and i've seen Obagi products and really interest me. I had a melasma on my right and left face, after trying different products like Meladerm, Estee Lauder and last one i used is from Clinique which doesn't worked on my skin. I'm a 43 year old Asian women. I am using a 70SPf but eventhough i has sunscreens my freckles still gets so dark. Help me please. Thank you. |

The most important thing to determine with pigmentation is the depth and source. Because each type has a different treatment protocol. Melasma, large brown\black splotches tends to be be the result of hormones and is typically resistant to topical treatment. Most people find supplementation and dietary chanes are necessary to improve it. Small defined spots (freckles) are the result of overexposure to the sun and topical treatment may or may not be effective depending upon where in the skin it lies. Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation appears like melasma but occurs deep in the dermis as a result of disturbing the basal cell layer. Often resistant to topical treatment but usually clears over time with cell turnover. Supporting the skin to its healthy condition and being patient is usually the most effective way.
If your pigmentation isnt responding to sun care and other topical treatments then its worth seeimg a dermatologist to get more of an idea as to the type you have. Only epidermal pigmentatiom is responsive to topical treatments including laser. |

Obagi will definitely help hyperpigmentation and melasma. I still consider the Nu Derm system one of the best skin care routines out there. It works. However, it is a very harsh system, and you really need guidance with it to know when to back off, apply more, etc. I would definitely recommend going to see a nurse and/or derm to find out more about it. |

Astaxanthin helps with hyperpigmentation according to Dr. Oz, and its worked for me. Besides fading current discoloration, it also shelters skin from future events. |

I would agree with rileygirl. Obagi worked for me to keep treat my pigmentation problems. I've been using it for over 2 years. Obagi certainty has helped my skin to achieve as close as possible "a more even tone and color" |
