Hey all,
Is there any truth to this?
I have some freckling and sun damage on my shoulders and forearms. As well as wanting to make a cosmetic difference I thought it'd be great to reduce some of the cancer risk, but wondered if this was too good to be true.
Does anyone know?
Thanks! |

I have heard that recent studies have said it does, and helps reduce the occurrence of more pre-cancerous moles too. But I don't know if this is a good enough reason to use peels (especially without professional help) since they are pretty intense treatments which could do damage to your skin and leave you vulnerable, rather than just the right amount to save you from cancers. It might work well for some people under just the right cirumstances (just the right kind and percentage of acids, number of treatments, recovery times, intensity of sun's rays, i.e. effectiveness of sunscreens, adequate nutrition, current condition of skin's hidden layers etc.). But there's always a risk of being among the ones who are left more vulnerable for some reason that was overlooked. We all have to be aware, and prepared for the consequences if that should be us after using them!
But if you trust that after researching, you're in enough control of all or most of these things enough to feel no anxiety about it, it may be a great option for you! I use low percentage peels, and dot them on where needed, not too often, and that's comfortable for me. |
