I am looking to DIY a scalp scrub. I have found a few on the internet using granulated sugar, brown sugar and one with asprin. If someone has another recipe please share. The ones I saw are using sugar, oatmeal and any oil (I would prefer Tea Tree oil) and one by dissolving a few Asprins in warm water and missing with oil. |

any recipes that are more water based..? perhaps its better to substitute some oil with aloe vera or something to make it easier to wash off.
i think that a recipe with 100% oil base will be difficult to wash off on the scalp |

Hey rosy14, I'm just curious about your reasons for wanting to use a scrub on your scalp?
I think most adjust their shampoos & conditioners to help improve the condition of their scalp, or use a brush to stimulate.
Plus if it were me, I'd be worried about getting all the stuff OUT of my hair! |

Hi LoriA, the reason is to exfoliate the scalp like we do our face and body. We do wash our faces and bodies but still use exfoliation. I tried one with brown sugar, its messy to put on, but washing off is no more than washing oil out of your hair. It does give your scalp a clean feeling. |

Ok, just checking. I was a little worried that you might be wanting to do it in an attempt to correct some kind of itchy scalp symptom, in which case I'd have recommended treating it differently.
Sounds nice!
My scalp is a little sensitive, even to shampoos, so I use a few drops of acv every so often to keep it in line. I think Asprin would really mess me up. |
