I am on week 4 of Obagi with no peeling, just some tenderness and a bit "hot" feeling. I have very oily skin and recently did some glycolic acid peels, so don't know if I will peel on Obagi.
Well, I have a vacation coming up to the Caribbean in 6 weeks and I'm wondering....do I stop the process a few days before? How many days? and then continue when I get back home? By then I would have been on week 11 or so, but judging from my slow progress, no peeling yet(don't want it!), I'm afraid I will be at my worst come vacation time.
If I suspend the program before the trip, will my skin heal back? And when I start up again, will it be like starting all over?
Thanks! This is such a helpful forum, I'm so glad I found it yesterday!! |

Hi
There are posters on this forum who are far more knowledgeable on Obagi than I am. (although I am on my third cycle) so I'm sure they'll come along with some answers. My own opinion is that I would stop a few days before and during your vacation and start again when you come back. But you must use a high SPF while you're away and reapply often. Stopping your Obagi may delay the process a bit but by then you'll be on week 10, so I wouldn't think your skin would go back to square 1.
Concerning no peeling, I think some people don't peel at all so this may not happen in your case but make sure you're using enough product and all the products in the right order and no other products - especially no moisturizer.
Hope this helps. Good luck. |

What has your dermatologist recommended? Are you thinking you want to tan whilst on holiday or are you intending to wear sunblock and a wide brimmed hat? |

I use Retin-A but I still go to the beach when I want. (Live in the tropics and opposite the beach, so it's hard to avoid!)
I wear a wide-brimmed hat and when I sun-bathe I drape a light see-through sarong over the hat and face - kind of like those old fashioned mosquito hats! Anyway, it allows me to see out but keeps the sun off! Just a suggestion! |

I agree you should protect your properly (SS & hat). Stopping a few days before your vacation isn't going to help much. |

Thank you...
Firefox, I did not plan to tan, I was just wondering if triple layering on the SPF was enough. (Face protector SPF55, Coppertone SPF 55 sport spray, and some powder makeup with SPF) We will be out, doing some sporty stuff, river rafting, waterfall tour, etc..and a big hat would just be in the way
I thought I would stop the system about a good 3 weeks before (as I also have a wedding in February)
Is it the Retin-A that makes the skin sun sensitive or the Hydroquinone? |
