As I get older, my lashes aren't the same: shorter, spiky-er, not as thick.
I think part of this may be related to dry eye, so I am already working on that part.
I don't want to use those products known to permanently change eye color.
What else is known to help improve the condition of lashes?
rubbing them with castor oil?
Thanks, bfg |

I did find castor helpful. I noticed a difference, not dramatic but a little difference. I use rapid lash now and really noticed a difference. I'm sure its not as much as it would be with latisse but I'm really happy with it. |

Another RapidLash groupie here! See my review on it in the product review board here. I've included pictures. They are not Tammy Faye long, but, like Girlie Girl had said, I am happy with them. They were short and thin and seemed to be falling out daily. Now I hardly ever notice any lashes falling out, they curl on their own and with masacara I think they look pretty darn long.
I have to say, though, that it took a very long time to work for me, not the 4-6 weeks RapidLash claimed it would take. Some reviewers on Amazon said they started to notice a difference in only 2-3 weeks, so when I didn't notice any difference within 6 weeks, I almost gave up on it. I'm so glad I didn't because a week or two later I did start seeing some added length to them. Now, after more than a year of use, they are slightly longer than my 12-week photos I posted, but not much longer than that.
Stick with it for at least a couple of months. One tube lasts me 2-3 months with use on the top lashes only. I've found Amazon sells it the cheapest. |

Hi, I use SmartLash. I was getting bare spots in my lash line. I really like this product. I've had very good results. My lashes are very long. I've always had long lashes, but they are longer and fuller than ever. I only use it once a day. |

AFAIK the iris change was reported in a minority of patients using bimatoprost as an eye drop, not in those using it as an eyelash growth product. Not saying you should use a prostaglandin product, just don't discount it based on a side effect which is unlikely to occur. |

I've never used castor oil but it might "feed" the lashes for a better overall look. I have used Careprost for a long while. It works very well and no side effects for me. Dark Moon was using something that she liked and wasn't bimataprost based. I can't remember the name but she wrote about it frequently here on EDS. |

false eyelashes work wonders but it may be a bit over the top. They do have less dramatic ones that can be worn on a day to day basis. I wear false eyelashes all the time. |

I have been using RapidLash for almost a year. I am not good about using it but I have seen longer lashes for sure. Especially on the bottom lash line.
I am adding the Aveda lash serum to my rotation and so far it isn't irritating me but I can't say what is RapidLash results and what is Aveda. The Aveda stuff isn't available yet, I think by the end of the month it will be in stores. |

RevitaLash has received some pretty glowing reviews as an eyelash conditioner/enhancer. Unfortunately it comes with a pretty hefty price tag. Then again if it works it's worth it
I wouldn't go the route of extensions because I've heard those can end up damaging the real lashes in the long run. Although they do look nice - fake eyelashes that won't fall off in the middle of date night!
As someone who doesn't have the cash for conditioners or extensions, I can say I'm a big fan of products like Too Faced Lash Injection. It does a great job of making eyelashes appear longer and thicker and it has great staying power. I like to layer it on top of a plain mascara to add to the effect. |

I'm another Careprost fan! Best stuff ever
I've used a few lash things over the years - one by Herome, Talika, Revitalash - they didnt do much - the first 2 definitely conditioned my lashes but Revitalash was a dreadful waste of money especially at $165 here in Australia
I started off with Lumigan then quickly found the MUCH cheaper alternative Careprost - no adverse side effects at all for me - I have dark blue-green eyes - no colour changes for me - absolutely fab stuff. My lashes are double the length they used to be - with mascara on I get asked if I have extensions |

If I recall correctly, there was a problem with the applicator brushes for those Lumigan? Careprost?
What are people using to make sure they stuff stays on the lashes and doesn't get into the surrounding skin and eyes?
Thanks, BFG |

I have tried a fine eyeliner brush and also a super fine plastic 'stick' type applicator. The brush is more wasteful but better for controlled application IMO. Liquid tends to drip off the stick. The product stings a little and eyes go a little bloodshot the next day if you get it in your eyes, which is handy for determining good technique! When I say a little I do mean a little. I had quite bloodshot eyes the first week or two because my technique was so poor: but I never use eyeliner so no transferable skills!
I am having most success applying to the lashes themselves, relatively close to the base, and letting the liquid 'wick' down into the follicles. I do have a tiny amount of hyperpigmentation on one upper eyelid - you literally have to be two inches away to see it - but I really have been slapdash and could easily have avoided this. I would also say do not apply right at bedtime, I found the side I slept on the lashes were not growing at the outer corner which I think was down to eye watering. Made me slightly concerned that the other side was ending up in my eye. I do not treat my bottom lashes at all.
Be interesting to hear what other people's technique is. |

Firefox, I've been a long time wearer of liquid liner so have my technique for applying Careprost down-pat lol
I've tried a few different liner brushes and they've all been fine. If applying before I go to bed, I usually wait about 15 minutes anyway as I brush and floss my teeth after so I havent had the problems you mentioned.
Also the Careprost has never stung me or given me bloodshot eyes - which is surprising because when I was young I couldnt really wear mascara as most of them irritated my eyes... |

I use Careprost too, with no problem. It does definitely work but takes a while. I use a little eyeliner brush which works well. I would like a lttle more 'volume'. |

I purchased a lash growth product last year, but using it made me nervous (my mom had glaucoma), so ended up not using it regularly enough. Longer lashes just weren't worth the worry to me.
Anyway, at the time I bought those tiny nail-art brushes for application. |

I've been trying in vain to save my hair and my eyelashes. I ingested omega3 for about a month and a half but little difference occurred.
There's a number of lash products I tried such as DHC, Ardell, and good oil castor oil. I used castor oil and I think it made my lashes stronger and minimally thicker but the results didn't continue so I stopped (a bit under a month). To apply the castor oil is tricky (too much and it can lead to breakouts since it doesn't absorb and it's so very thick), I would advise doing it at night. I bought a cheap $1 or so bottle at the supermarket and applied to with a mascara applicator (those free ones) every night.
Lash growth products like revitalash scare me a bit. And I heard the results can disappear if not used continuously, and something about darkening eye? I've stopped castor oil and my improved lashes are the same.
In an ongoing effort, I just picked up Dr. Pickhart or Skin Biology's folligen spray. It has copper peptides and I heard it's good for hair and eyelashes so I'll see how that goes. There's no parabens and the ingredients list seems nice:
Purified water, copper peptides (hydrolyzed soy protein and copper chloride), glycerin, phenoxyethanol, cupric chloride, butylene glycol, polysorbate 20, allantoin, glycine, aloe barbadensis leaf juice (aloe vera) gel, tocophersolan (vitamin E) and astaxanthin. |

I am also a Rapidlash fan! I have had wonderful results with it! It does take about 6 weeks to really see results. I have been blessed with thick lashes but not very long. I started using Rapidlash and my lashes are extremely long now! I actually can feel them on my sunglasses! You really shoud try it! |

It's probably because I do my lines like a five year old with a crayon! Encouraging to hear mine is not a universal experience, even tho I consider the 'side effects' very minor and well worth it for the results. Thanks for your response Glamcat! |

Latisse doesn't make your eyes darker. In patients who were using it for glaucoma, it made some of their eyes darker...but they were actually putting it in their eyes. Even then, the majority didn't have eye darkening. If you're just using it for your lashes, you're not putting it in your eyes so there's no way it can make your eyes darker. I don't think you should be scared to use it! |

I have been using Hydropeptide Lash (uses peptides as actives) and have definitely noticed longer lashes after a month of applying several nights a week. I would recommend it.I had very short lashes. |

Try this product:
Priori Lash Recovery Serum.
Apparently, its very effective. I was reading a magazine article, and this makeup artist was telling how she ask her models to use this product 2 weeks before the shoot, and appear with fuller lashes. |

They are dirt cheap but works exceptionally well, but make sure you don't use too much, I got cyst on my eye lids if I applied too much |
