Dr Hauschka or MD Forumlations? Help a newbie!

Hi everyone!

I'm completely new here and am overwhelmed by the amazing amount of information available. I would love some advice form the people here about whether they would recommend MD formulations or Dr Hauschka skincare?

I have combo skin, which is very hormonal. Some days I wake up and am very oily, other times (my forehead especially) I am flaking my skin is so dry. I also have visiable pores on my nose and quite bumpy skin on my forehead with occasional breakouts Sad

I'm a mess! Wink

I've tried Dermalogica without much success, my main concerns lie with evening out my skin tone, getting rid of the bumps and making my pores less visable along with generally healthier looking skin. Laughing

I am drawn to Dr Hauschka because of all the amazing reviews it has here and on Make Up Alley but wasn't sure if it was good for all skin types? MD appeals to me because of the glycolic in its cleansers and the 'illuminating' range.

Can anyone offer some advice?

I can't help you, I'm new as well but am wondering the same thing! I'm drawn to both lines - I like glycolic acid for my skin and I can't get around putting oils on my skin with the Dr H but it gets such great reviews! One thing I did notice earlier today, Dr H has two sample kits which EDS sells, they are about $25 each. They look fair sized too, not just foil packs. Whatever you try, please post your results here. Smile

That's a really tough question because different skins respond differently to different products. However, because you wrote that sometimes you wake up with dry skin I would recommend that you go with the Dr Hauschka option. My main reason for saying that is to keep you away from glycolic acid (which is drying) and gently push you in the direction of natural products that will control oil or breakouts without using drying ingredients.

ETA: Good things for you to try would be the Cleansing Cream, Normalizing Oil and maybe the clay mask for when your skin is on the oilier side.

Hi Mabsy, sorry to hijack your thread Nightshade. I wake up with oily skin, beyond oily for that matter. 'Oil control' lotions irritate my skin though, it itches. I feel if your skin is oily and you block it from releasing, you are just asking for trouble! So, just something to normalize it a bit would be nice. Mineral makeup has helped with makeup lasting throughout the day. Yay! Otherwise liquid or other powered would cake or seperate.

Does anyone have success with MDF? Dermalogica was a failure for me, much to my dismay. Sad

Not just little new-skin-care breakouts but big, cysts that wouldn't go away. I tend to have this reaction with salicylic acid products although the aspirin mask doesn't do this.

Try Dr. H's normalizing Day oil or Decleor's ylang ylang oil. they are both great for regulating oil production and are not irritating.

Lolli - The Dr H normalizing Day oil and perhaps Jane Iredale Absence (haven't tried it yet but it sounds fantastic by others' reports) might be helpful for you. I *have* had great success with MDF products in terms of getting rid of those little under-the-skin bumps but I'm not sure about oil production. If you have issues with BHA though then you should try a natural line and see how you go.
