And what exactly is the process there? Is it discoloration first, then indentation? How long do they take to be recognizeable as stretchmarks?
The only times I got stretchmarks I just one day noticed that they were there, indentations and colour and all.

I'm asking because I have discoloration on my back which now seems to have some indentation/structure. This structure seems to have developed over the last 2 days. Now, it might of course be that I am obsessing and everything is fine.
I wonder if, during the course of 2 days, there might be a recognizeable change and if after a certain amount of time the stretchmarks are fully developed and recognizeable as stretchmarks.

You should add some oil (like jojoba) to your routine.
This can help to prevent stretchmarks.

When I got mine during pregnancy, they appeared as discoloration. In my case, red then when the discoloration went away, I noticed that the skin was a different texture where the red was.
I believe this is scar tissue because I have heard from 2 different sources that high quality enzymes like Vitalzym or other high quality systemic enzyme formulas do remove stretch marks over time. I would think it may take a year.
I imagine improvement would be seen before then. If I were doing it I'd probably decide to continue or not after 6 mos. I have also heard it effective for scar tissue anywhere in or on the body This includes scar tissue in the lungs.
I have not tried this because at 53, I am not concerned with stretch marks but more with wrinkles and sagging. Though I do wonder if wrinkles would be helped by systemic enzymes.

Proteolytic enzymes do not get absorbed (except in minute quantities). Any tiny amount that got in to the blood would not survive long as the liver has its own proteases to degrade them. Any few molecules that got to skin would find that scar tissue has scant circulation. In short, a waste of money.

DrJ,
You may very well be right.
Though I did find a very affordable systemic enzyme formulation developed by Dr. Wong and there is even a mention of the burning sensation people feel as the scar tissue dissolves.
Perhaps the formula has heroic amounts. Wink
I might give it a whirl and report back in 6 mos.
