I'm turning 27 and have heard great things about facial exercises. I want to start doing facial exercises as a preventable measure for aging. I have no idea about facial exercises and how to do them. Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Oh gosh, there are so many programs available and you will get so many different opinions on them.

Check out this: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=11902

Scroll down to almost the end of that page where is says: Facial exercise & Massage Disscussion Threads (in burgundy type). You will find all kind of information on different programs. Take your time and research them all before making a decision on one.

Good luck!

Hi BCgirl ~ Facial exercises are somewhat controversial but in most respects provide many benefits. It will be helpful to use the search engine and you will find everything and anything you need for information. I have been doing them for four years and love love love them for maintenance. Truly excellent in my book.

Facial exercises work in much the same way as exercising the rest of the body works.

As we age, the muscles become smaller, which causes the overlying skin to sag and wrinkle. Subcutaneous fat also diminishes, which results in further bagginess.

Exercising the muscle is certainly a major component. Also valuable is the massage aspect, the ability of excercise to increase blood flow, and pulling on bone which in theory should help keep the osteoblasts working at a stronger rate. We have many threads on Facial exercise discussing various programs, comparing various programs and discussing what has worked and what hasn't. Lots of reading.
