If you are worried see an oculoplastic surgeon because he is a specialist in eyelids. Stop aspirin and vitamin E the week before to prevent bruising and take more vitamin C for the same reason. Then have botox to your crow's feet so that the filler under your eyes lasts longer because you won't be squeezing it with facial expressions.

I've had Resytlane injected in my tear troughs with success, but I did a lot of research beforehand.

I had to find not only someone willing to do it, but also someone who I trusted. I asked a lot of people for recommendations on local derms and cosm. surgeons before choosing one.

If I were you, I would do some homework. Good luck, BFG

I had Juvederm injected by someone with a really good reputations and I loved it. Only problem was a big bruise on one eye which is common. I have not gone back yet because I don't want to explain my big bruise to everyone again Smile I have heard to stop anything that thins the blood and to take arnica beforehand. I will try it next time as I am sure I will have to do this again. One advantage was that it has lasted well over a year.

Many surgeons (plastic and others) have been recommending Arnica Montana to help minimize bruising for a while now, there are other very good suggestions on this site, just a bit of information:

http://www.epollardmd.com/surgery-prep.php#supplements:

Two weeks before surgery: Start taking 500 mg. of Vitamin C once or twice a day. Vitamin C promotes healing and is a free-radical scavenger. Look for Vitamin C that is time-release and pure (that is, not mixed with any bioflavonoid or anything else).

One day before surgery: Start taking Arnica Montana (30c dosage) the night before your surgery. (Arnica Montana is available in health food stores. You want to purchase 30c tablets. Obtaining the correct dosage is important as it reflects the dilution. A 30x dosage is ten times more concentrated.) Take two tablets, three times a day, for the first three days after surgery. Place the tablets under your tongue about 15 minutes to 30 minutes before eating.

Take 500mg (or 100 GDU) of Bromelain two times on the day before surgery, and continue for five more days after surgery. This pineapple enzyme, which decreases bruising, is available in health food stores.

Please Note: The above is a program recommended by Dr Pollard. Whether you follow all, part, or none of this program is entirely your choice, based on what you deem best for your own health. If you do not intend to follow this plan, however, it is important that you notify Dr. Pollard of your decision.

There are risks, like with anything, with this but the filler wont migrate into your eye's. I'd be concerned about seeing a dr who told me that.

I think this a popular procedure and you shouldn't have to convince your dr to do it. He/She should be well experienced.

Hi all,

Thanks everybody for your great advice. I will have to find a doctor who is experienced with the injections in the tear troughs it seems. How did you all find your doctor? Word of mouth? Google? I really really need it as I get older, the tear troughs seem to become more evident. I may just need more sleep, too, but am not sure.

*MIRACLESKIN* How long did the fat injection last?

*DARKMOON* Do you know why the stronger arnica 30x is not better than the weaker 30c? I always wonder about that, so just wondering if you know the reason why 30c is recommended compared to 30x.

With homeopathy as I have always understood it the more diluted actually the stronger, to put it simply. This may explain it better than I do?

http://www.livestrong.com/article/133696-what-is-difference-arnica-montana-30x-30c/

Arnica montana, named for the mountain daisy from which it is derived, is the homeopathic remedy of choice for bruising and trauma. Homeopathic arnica may also be helpful for injury, swelling, shock and severe insect stings. Taking arnica before and after a surgery or dental procedure may minimize post-surgical pain and edema.
PREPARATION OF HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
Homeopathic remedies are prepared through a series of dilution and succussion, or vigorous shaking. The preparation method is an essential part of the homeopathic process and is believed to be partially responsible for the success of homeopathy. A common theory is that highly-diluted remedies which contain little or none of the actual substance do carry the "energy signature" of the substance, and it is this energy which promotes healing, explains Andrew Hobson, a registered and licensed homeopath.

DILUTION
Counter-intuitively, homeopathic remedies become stronger the more they are diluted. The weakest remedies are the decimal or X potencies, which are diluted at a 1-in-10 ratio: one drop of arnica tincture in 9 drops of alcohol, for example. Centesimal potencies, diluted at a 1-in-100 ratio, are usually adequate for first aid treatment of minor and acute conditions, notes Hobson.
POTENCY
Arnica montana 30X is a decimal potency, while arnica montana 30C is a centesimal. The "30" represents the number of serial dilutions performed on the original substance. As the British Homeopathic Association explains, in a serial dilution the results of one dilution are used for the next dilution. One drop of arnica tincture diluted in 99 drops of alcohol results in the 1C potency, and one drop of the 1C potency in 99 drops of alcohol becomes the 2C potency. Another way to think of it might be that a 30X potency is 1 in 10 to the 30th power, while a 30C is 1 in 100 to the 30th power. The more zeroes, the stronger the remedy.

Here is another link which explains the basics of Homeopathy:

Ok, I think I see what you mean. I had thought 30x was stronger than 30c, but it's actually the other way around. A little confusing, but just have to memorize it. Very Happy Thanks DM.

I know it is a strange concept, but I have just always remembered that it is weaker is stronger. Very Happy

Was your doctor a cosmetic derm or a plastic surgeon? I'm just asking because it is a very commonly performed procedure. It's not that it can migrate "in" the eye but if you don't start injecting from the bone as support then you run the risk of the filler getting "lost" in the periorbital area so it will be money wasted Sad

Hi Natalyn, I just now saw your question reqarding how long the fat injection lasts. The first time I had it was about 7 years ago and it lasted for 5 plus years. I have recently lost weight and need it again

I took arnica tincture for a week before and I still had horrible bruising. I think the problem was the vitamin E I had been taking. One reason you get bruising is because, to prevent lumping and to get a good result, the doc has to really massage it into the area. That is what my oculoplastic surgeon told me.

I'm curious as to what everyone who has had this done paid. I needed two vials and it cost $2000. I had some left over after the first time and came back a month later and he used the rest. It's good for six months if you don't use it all up.

I opted to get filler in the tear troughs because I do not have as much confidence in the success of lower blephs as I do upper blephs.

I first had the filler injected there 4 years ago and it has remained - more or less - the same without the need for more since then.

I am very happy with the results, but there again, I was very careful as to who I let treat me there...I performed the same diligent process to find the right person.

I don't think my recent surgery will impact the under eye area, but I guess time will tell.
