Hi guys,
I have very sensitive facial skin, and I'd like your advice on one thing - A few of my friends suggest I try home remedies, but honestly, I've been trying everything and I still have blackheads and acne problems. I'd rather just go to a skin clinic (oliva clinic) and get done with it, but a lot of people are against it.
You guys seem to know your stuff, so what do you recommend? |

Get what done at the clinic? What do you mean by trying everything? I recommend cutting all sulphate surfactants, alkaline soaps and other known irritants from your skincare routine. Also reviewing your diet and lifestyle to ensure you consistently meet or exceed all your government's recommendations. Both of these can cause or contribute to sensitivity and clogged pores/ acne. |

See a dermatologist if you can. If not, try the Paula's Choice product line for acne. Skin problems are so frustrating.
And, as the other poster indicated, cleaning up your diet might help -- although I know a couple of people who are vegans, eat well and still have problems. On the other hand, my best friend, whom I've known since the second grade, could dip her face in a vat of grease and live on sugar without causing breakouts. She was so lucky that way.
ETA: If you do not have access to Paula's Choice products, try incorporating a BHA. BHA's do a good job of cleaning pores. Your problem could be hormonal. A derm or esty would be in a better position to understand your skin needs. |

I think that Elvisshops gave you some good advice. I was going to recommend Paula's Choice as well.
In addition, try to avoid products that contain dyes, fragrances, and aromatic essential oils (like lemon oil, lavendar oil, rosemary oil). Such ingredients can aggravate skin. It might be somewhat acceptable, however, if such ingredients are at the bottom of the ingredient list, but they shouldn't be near the top.
Also, before buying a product, look up its ingredients at the Cosmetics Cop website. That website has a glossary of cosmetic ingredients, and I think that they have a phone application to boot. Here's the website:
