Has anyone out there used tea tree oil successfully? I have read articles about it getting rid of acne (blackheads & whiteheads). I started applying it just 2 days ago. Wondered if anyone has tried it and if it works.

I never had breakouts, however one of my sons did have terrible acne and along with OCM (oil cleansing method) we used Tea Tree oil to spot treat and yes it helped him very much. Nothing will work in that short a period of time though, it takes a bit of time and patience. I also added it to his cleansing oil blend. Very Happy

Just be careful if you are using pure tea tree oil. It can be extremely harsh and drying. I used this on my daughter's staph infection last year and mistakenly used the tip of my finger to apply it (stupid thing to do on a staph infection...I soon learned). The skin on that finger started to peel away and crack. I should have used a Q-tip. Doh!

Yes Correct, that is how I had my son just dot a tiny amount on blemishes! Very Happy

It's actually better to dilute it a bit. Try to start with a cotton ball soaked in water (squeeze the water out) and then put some Tea Tree Oil on that.

It is too harsh to use it alone

It is actually one of a very few essential oils that can be used "neat"...my son got his fathers genes and has pasty white sensitive skin yet had no problem using Tea Tree oil straight properly applied to his blemishes.

I have never used pure tea tree oil, but The Body Shop has a skin care line with it. I tried the toner and it helped control the sebum on my nose and forehead.

I tried to use it on my face but couldn't. I found it to be too irritating.

If any EO is irritating to you then try diluting it in a carrier oil, some are more sensitive than others! Test it half strength on just one inconspicuous spot?

That is Tee Tree or Chamomile only, other EO's should not ever be applied straight!
