I would like to make a serum or toner using N'Acetyl Glucosamine but the only recipe I can find here seems to use capsules. I have the powder.

Any assistance is hugely appreciated!

Can you work from the following?

Product details

Assay: 99.5%
Solubility: water
Suggested percentage: 4% Glucosamine with 2% Niacinamide. No other data available - up to customer's discretion. (One DIYer is succesfully using 10% NAG in water with Propylene Glycol.)

Thank you VERY much for the super quick reply but sadly, that is all pretty "greek to me".
Here is what I found on the forum which I would like to use except it goes by capsules and I have both Niacinamide and N'Acetyl Glucosamine in powder form (from GoW). I'm great with grams/ounces! LOL!

=========

Niacinamide-N-A-G-Aloe Serum - 4 oz - 4% strength

Fill 4 oz bottle halfway with 2 oz pure aloe vera gel and add:

9 x 500mg caps Niacinamide (NOW)
6 x 750 mg caps N-A-G (N'Acetyl Glucosamine/Jarrow)

Fill with distilled water to make 4 oz and shake well.

You don't need to convert the capsules to grams because you don't know whether they contain any fillers. Just convert the percentage (if that is the % you are comfortable with) listed at the top to grams. Batch calculator here
http://skinessentialactives.blogspot.co.uk/p/batch-size-calculator-percentage.html
SEA also have recipes based on the %, pH and combinations suggested in the published research.

Here is one from Bulk actives first number is % second is grams:

Niacinamide and Glucosamine cream gel % gram
Distilled water 92.2 46.10
Glucosamine 4 2
Niacinamide 2 1
Gelmaker Ultra or Gelmaker PLUS 0.8 0.40
Preservative (1) 0.5 0.25
Total Amount 100 50
Add Glucosamine and Niacinamide to water, dissolve and mix well.
Add preservative (1), mix well.
Add Gelmaker ULTRA or PLUS, mix well until a gel has formed.

(1) Use a preservative, unless you plan to make a fresh lotion every week and wish to avoid any preservatives.?It is best to store DIY lotions in the refrigerator.

Most all of the DIY suppliers have batch calculators on site, I also have a list of online calculators I will post for you.

You can use your Aloe instead of the Gelmaker.

THANK YOU! I think it was the absence of the Batch Size Calculator that was giving me all the problems. I'm sure I have seen it but didn't understand the purpose. Now that I have some context it seems to make sense to me.

Would someone mind checking my approach/results?

This is what it came up with when I said I wanted to make 4oz of product, 4% N'Acetyl Glucosamine and 2% Nicinamide... then I figured the rest would be aloe vera gel (94%)

N'Acetyl Glucosamine 4.54g
Niacinamide 2.27g
Aloe Vera Gel 3.76oz

Does it sound like I'm understanding correctly? Of course I was just using 4oz as a rough number to make sure my understanding is sound. I would probably make less than this since I'd do it every 5-7 days depending.

Again, thank you SO MUCH!
