Hi everyone, has anyone else had this happen to them. I am using an glycolic acid mask, not too strong of a percentage only 10%. After I use it my skin looks INCREDIBLE and so bright/glowing for about 12 hours. But the next day it pretty much goes back to its original state. Are the effects just temporary? I thought it would exfoliate skin and it would keep on exfoliating and improving and improving but it seems like it improves after a peel then back to square one, so it only improves a little bit and not more and more.

I am trying to remove a permatan of sun damaged dead skin anyone have suggestions?

You would need to use a stronger % peel or use a daily daily leave on product.

You also may just be seeing a temporary hydration from the mask.

Agree with Girliegirl that a 10% will not do anything except exfoliate, sun damage is in the dermis and needs far more intense peels than a 10% and/ or daily use of actives proven to be effective on hyperpigmentation. Be sure you are using a good quality zinc oxide sunscreen alongside any AHAs or other treatments for hyperpigmentation.

Another that agrees that a higher percentage is necessary to provide anything like a peel.

It depends on the ph of the 10% AHA. A lower ph will be stronger than a higher ph. Also it depends on your age. The older you are the less skin turnover you have naturally. You will need to apply a peel more often if you are older. A stronger acid with a lower ph will certainly do more. Just make sure you move up slowly when you do go to a higher %.

I am assuming (I know)Bad Grin That this mask being used is not at a low ph since there is not the typical peel that would be expected, it sounds like a mask that is used to brighten the skin temporarily?

Sounds like you might need a stronger peel.
Perhaps your skin has gotten used to that strength of that peel?
