Recs for a Vitamin C serum?

There are so many Cs out there - declaring different levels of efficacy and stability - I haven't heard anything that has definitively convinced me that one "carrier" method is better than another....(I'm very interested though..) I'm using the old Dinosaur, Cellex C with fab results(increased firmness,clarity, tone). There are interesting threads discussing powder, vs serum as well as texture and efficacy comparisons amongst serums and homemade C serums!....I'm actually still quite confused. I sort of watch what Mabsy says cuz she's tried just about everything...at last post she used the Vivier C serum - so when my Cellex C bottle is finished, I'm going to try the Vivier (you can order it from EDS). Anyway, a search will yield some interesting reading!

I have used Cellex-C and while it worked just as well as the Vivier does, I found that it turned orange too quickly on me. Quicker than Skinceuticals and definitely *much* quicker than the Vivier. I also prefer the Vivier because I find that Cellex-C and SC have a very watery consistency that makes my skin feel a bit tight before I put moisturiser on. Vivier has a bit more slip and does not seem as drying. If you have oily skin I'd go with the SC though.

Hi Mabsy - I know what you mean re: the vivier texture - I have the TMR and it has the same sort of "weight" as water but has a noticeable slip - not greasy - just a "slip" (that's the only way I can describe it)and I love it!!! I LOVE the fact that the V doesn't seem to "turn" quickly - I am SO looking forward to trying it!!

I got two generous samples of vit c-serumes with my EDS december order. One was Skinceutical vitc + aha and the other one vivier serum 10. I do absolutly prefer Vivier as it was much less drying than Skinceutical. I also liked the gel-like watery texture of Vivier.

You should probably start with a lower concentration for the eye area but if you have pretty strong skin then it might be able to handle higher concentration around the eye area. Some people use 12% or 20% around the eye area but I have always stuck to about 5% (personal preference - don't want to dry the area out).

Skinceuticals makes a C+E serum - best of both worlds Wink

I have used both skinceuticals C+E and the Vivier per Mabsy's recommendation. I must say I like them both but Viviers texture is nicer as other posts have described. Having said that when it starts getting really sunny again I plan on purchasing the C+E as I believe it might help more with free radical damage to the skin. Not sure if it is true or not but it gives me an excuse to use one brand 1/2 the year and another brand the other 1/2!

I've been using Vivier serum. I have oily skin, so when I first tried it this past summer - I found it oily on my skin. However during the winter months, my skin tends to become dry so Vivier has worked out well for me now. Therefore my strategy will be the following: Vivier C serum in winter months and Skinceuticals during the summer months.

I've used Cellex-C, Skinceuticals and Avon Clearly C but my vote goes to Cellular Skin Rx for their C+ Firming Serum. All-time favorite now. Sinks in fast and gives me great results. And not too expensive - $38. No water in the solution so no worries about stability either.

I use Skinceuticals. I like the 'watery' texture as I have oily skin. These are all great brands that we have been discussing, I think that it really all depends on personal preference and skin type.

I too like skinceuticals. I'm combo-oily with ance, plus sensitive skin. I've been using the Serum 10 which is recommended for oily/acne skins for a couple weeks now. I seem to have this new glow I haven't had in ages!
