Can I just say Thank you ladies for the laughs, its been a bit of a trying day for me, family drama and such!
I did try their base cream long ago and mixed some actives in, it was not that great sorry to report, it was a bit tacky, balled up, never sank in, now mind you, it could of been the diy'r that was a fault and not the cream But the C feeling tacky to you DM concerns me, since I know their cream did.
But I do want a good C, and I refuse to try DIY again, I fail misserably at it. |

I normally DIY, but for the 15$ it was worth a shot!
I will report in about how it is now that the C is dissolving in it!
If it is tacky it is trash!
Sorry you are having family drama especially on Mothers Day! |

I am using it for a week already. I like what it does for my skin, but it is tacky and i had to move my vit C to PM because of that. I was considering it anyway.
It takes about an hour to fully penetrate into the skin, so it's not that bad for an evening application.
I was kind of scared to use such a high concentration, but it is working pretty well actually. No redness, no irritation. No need for my backup plan of dissolving it with water
By the way, THANK YOU DarkMoon, for 72 hours info ! Now i can alternate Vit C with other things with no regret |

I also usually use DIY version with HA and FA. Mine is more watery and only 15%.
But i can use it under anything, morning or night.
I bought this one actually after Kassy's recommendation. For $15 definitely worth trying.
Besides, i think you can still add to it FA if you want to. |

Are you talking about the new SA Vitamin C product? It already has Feluric Acid in it. Here are the ingredients:
Ingredients:
Serum: Water, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Ferulic Acid, Phloretin, Pomegranate Seed (Punica granatum) Oil, Tocotrienols, Vitamin E Oil (Alpha-D-Tocopherol), Astaxanthin, Lycopene, Lutein, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Beta Carotene, Xanthan Gum, Citrus Essential Oils, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid.
Powder: Ascorbic Acid (L) (Vitamin C), Lemon (Citrus limon) Extract, Orange (Citrus sinensis) Extract.
I guess you could add more though. |

You could do what I do - just buy a good L-Ascorbic Acid Powder (I use the Osmosis one) then combine .25gm (the Osmosis one comes with a measuring scoop) with a small amount of Aloe Vera Gel in the palm of the hand. This guarantees complete freshness - works well for me and is no fuss and inexpensive. |

I wonder why this form of Vitamin C is not more well known or use of it, widespread.
BFG |
Olay seems to use AA2G often in some of their products. I've known about AA2G for a long time because of that. Not in regards to DIY or anything, just in general I mean. I've been using an Olay cream that had AA2G for 4 or 5 years.
Regarding the off-topic allergies post by UmEnis, my husband and I have horrid allergies. Those two things you said really help as well as a high quality extra strength fish oil!!! (400EPA/200DHA capsules) My husband was having his allergies start. He started taking those and wow 90% gone. We always increase our fish oil during this time. Helps tremendously! |

Thanks Keliu, even I could manage that . I use to use a powder ages ago, I think by philosophy, it was easy to mix and put on face. |
For the 15$ the CEF serum from SA is super simple also you just slowly add the powder into the serum and close, shake wait a bit to make sure all is dissolved and you are good to go with a fresh ounce of C serum!
They even have the video linked if you need to watch how to pour and mix! |
I could manage that without the video too !!! But I am still waiting for your review |

It is coming but a hint.......it is a great option for those who do not want to spend an arm and a leg for ready made, yet don't wish to go full on DIY! |

ditto! Can one use real aloe? I have tons of aloe plants, they keep producing babies like mad, or would they be too sticky I wonder |
Can't see why not, should be the optimum thing to use. I use OTC 100% AV and it's a bit sticky after application - but then it dries right up. When I apply my other products on top it's fine - no balling up or anything. |

No, I wouldn't believe that!!! I tend to swim against the tide most of the time.
Sorry for taking this thread away from the subject of the new SkinActives' product - but it was actually Hannah from SkinActives who first recommended to use this method of application in her blog, ages ago. So I'm not surprised that she has finally brought out a product which requires daily mixing.
I'm not certain about the question of pH - but all the other Vitamin C powders don't raise this issue. Both Philosophy and Osmosis just say to add their powder to any moisturiser - I suppose by adding the Vit C the pH of the moisturiser will automatically be lowered. I definitely feel more of a slight tingling with this method of application than I did with my DIY version. |

That's what I like Keliu. I'm pretty sure it was you that gave the idea to use my osmosis powder with aloe and I love it and thank you for it. I do get that tingling, and I even get it if I add the skinactives power to it...yes I have both powders
So the PH must be okay since I get that tingle. The only problem is as my skin gets accustomed to it doesn't tingle as much..he..he..he, my skin is just too tough LOL |

Does anyone know where BA is getting their data from? In other words, a link to the study(s) employing this version of C?
Tks |
All data comes from the manufacturer's promotional brochure.
All studies quoted in the brochure are from manufacturer sponsored studies.
As far as I know there are no independent studies on AAG2.

Since I'm in the U.S., I'd be leery to buy any heat sensitive active that would have to make such a trip.

AA2G is very stable and there are no problems with international postage.
Even normal L-ascorbic acid can easily be posted via airmail without ANY problems.
------------------
About AAG2...Please note that
Ascorbyl Glucoside is VERY acidic.
Ascorbyl Glucoside is ONLY stable at pH 5-7
You MUST use a stong alkaline (food grade lye/sodium hydroxide) to bring the pH up to 6.
Working with Sodium Hydroxide is DANGEROUS
Food Grade Sodium Hydroxide Lye Micro Beads are readily available from 'theessentialdepot'
--------------
BTW! I still recommend L-ascorbic acid as the best product to use. It has tons of studies, it is cheap, and it is easy to work with!
The stability issue is NOT an issue for DIY, as it is easily made fresh every week.
LAA Stability is only a problem for the small scale home crafters who want to sell their products and need to store the stuff.
I started selling AAG2 because it was requested, and we could sell it easily at a lower price than a competitor (since then the competitor has lowered her price substantially to match mine
NOTE that there is no difference in quality. It does not matter who you buy it from, AAG2 is patented and there is only ONE manufacturer.

I am happily using mine (I ordered two). If I did not already own everything to make mine from scratch I would continue to purchase this! For those not inclined to DIY it is a great great and easy option to have the best of both worlds, FRESH LAA serum without the hassles!
I may continue to buy once I go through my DIY supplies, you can't beat the price , and again it is freshly made and easy! |
thats the review I've been waiting for! Ty |
You are welcome Tiny! I love my DIY potions but this is every bit as good, has all the actives I want and it is so darn easy one less to make would not hurt at all to me! |

DM, is it tacky? Can it be easily used under AnteAGe serum in the morning under make-up? I've been waiting for a product like that for ages... |
RS, The serum alone (without the c powder) was tacky, not so once the powder is added and dissolved.
When I was using the AA I had no problem at all, now I am using it before my ReLuma serum and cream and it works perfectly! |

Glad to hear you like the product as well DarkMoon. I've been following the discussion between you and Tiny on ReLuma and the AnteAge discussions as well as one of those two serums may be my next purchase once I've used up a lot of the stuff on my countertop, since I'm a product junkie! |
