I agree these look very pretty. However you really need to see the person "in action" with eyes moving etc. Sometimes it becomes obvious - I've seen lenses appear almost reptilian. I don't consider it deceitful to wear colored lenses but I think they tend to look obvious and more detracting than attractive.

I would never use surgery to change eye color.

Reptilian...that was classic!!!

OMG! I have a tiny bit of tint to my lenses just so I can see the dang things when I drop them.

Just last week contact drama, but under fun circumstances. Some mommy friends and myself booked a spa day (our last hoora! before school gets out.) this place has one of those amazing showers that makes my shower look like someone is spitting on me. nozzels from all directions.

Might I suggest you don't put your face in a spray of water coming at you from everywhere. Even when you think your eyes are closed enough, you still manage to blow a lens out!

I couldn't find it. I had to drive home (a few blocks luckily) with 20/20 in one eye, and 20/500 in the other. Which is like driving with glue in your eye, IMO.

I get home, I have 2 lenses left. (got to get on that). Open one, the dang thing comes out torn. That has never happened. Ok, open the other. Everything is fine.

Next day, put lenses in, one pops out. I can't see the damn thing! Took DH 10 minutes staring at all bathroom surfaces to find it!

I think it would be fun to wear those crazy lenses, cat eyes and such to the kids school and watch them freak out. And then watch to see who asks me why my eyes are that way, and who just stares. They are so cute!

I wish i was born with grey eyes, green eyes, blue eyes....anything but plain brown! I used to work in a Optometry office and would get any brand of colored contact lenses i wanted. I used to wear all kinds. In the end of it all... they all looked unnatural. I think if you are asian or a nationality that is meant to have brown eyes, then any other colour will look unnatural. If you are a full asian, there is a 0% chance you will be born with blue eyes. So even if you wear colored contact lenses, everyone else will know your eyes are fake. If a blue eyed person wanted to wear green contacts, they are able to pull it off much easier.

After reading your comment DarkMoon I just went on a big alpha-arbutin tangent. I know this might sound bad but if it was proven safe I think I really would consider using this stuff. Problem is it is very hard to know the truth. On the website one picture in particular looks very promising but then after reading forums no one seems willing to post their supposed success story photos with this stuff.

Also although I have not gone through all of the EDS thread you posted DarkMoon I notice Kassy_A wrote that:

Quote:
Alpha arbutin can certainly inhibit melanin production, and is *safe* (for the most part) to use on intact skin, for sun spots etc.. It is in fact 'hydroquinones' distant (safer/gentler) cousin in a way!.. (My silly words there, but a google will sort you all out.

Please, please, please, to anybody who is considering messing with their precious vision just to lighten their eye color, do some research and find out why "melanin" is so very important to not only our eyes, but to our very lives.. (head to toe BTW, including the brain!)

For the purpose of this thread, it's important for those who may not be aware to know, that melanin pigment of the iris is there to offer protection from UV rays, which can result in a loss of vision if it isn't filtered. Melanin is the filter, and the darker the eyes, the more melanin you have, and the more protection you have naturally.

Please know I'm not judging anyone, just sharing what I feel obliged to from a medical standpoint.

This has def put me off trying the stuff.

I also agree there is always just something not quiet right when someone is wearing them, you notice it, period. It's also weird, you feel like your talking to a wall, you can't see the real eye and it really does make a difference.

There may well be a reason for this Tiny. My mum always says that the eyes are the pathway to the soul (yes, born of hippie parents) So I guess in this sense it is possible to see coloured lenses as serving as "walls". In fact this is why I was wondering whether people thought they were deceitful or not.

Moon,

your Mom's right, hippy or not Laughing !! When you cant really see ones eyes, you DO NOT feel like they are there, its odd as hell, but true!!

I'd love to have lighter eyes, and mine are not "DARK DARK", BUT THAT said, I would never mess with the "risk', even if small, of my vision, ever!

I'd rather see, than have blue eyes. Confused

Now if I were 20 again, who knows what I might try

Very interesting what Kassy_A says about it all, think of those with eye trama's and blindness, Stevie wonder comes to mind, when you can see their eyes, they are normally a white/blue!

the daily Mocha has the opinion that changing eye color, even with colored contacts, has fallen out of fashion.

I have wear the color contacts with prescription for a long time. I usually buy them online, the usually on that I use is call Freshlook Dimension. If you normally wear contact lens, it will be a good choice to have the color contacts since it give you a difference look. The FreshlookDimensions will be for you as a reference of the color that you might like/
For the 1800color website, they have a color specialist to provide advice for choosing the color that will work well on people. You might contact them if you would like to try the color contact.
