Im sure this topic has been well covered in the past, but if I do a search, it brings up 738 documents and Im sure they all cant be relevant. So if you can be patient, I'd be grateful.
A friend of mine, no, it really is for a friend, has trouble with open pores, shes not too bright when it comes to using computers - its easier to ring me and ask me to look for her  She's already taken on board carekate's worldly advice of Milk of Magnesia for oily skin - by the way carekate, can she put her make up on top of it or does she wash it off after 15 minutes? Anyway, shes looking for something to treat her open pores and what she calls "holes" in her skin. Shes 41 and despite being told, she's a sun worshipper and a sunbed user. Tut tut. She has very greasy skin and always has to blott it daily to take the excess off. Any advice on what she can do? Im interested too, I havent got open pores but I guess some of them a bigger than others so anything that would shrink them would be very welcome. She's tried many foundations but non of them help her hide them or help her oily problem. shes currently using Revlon Colourstay Oil Free.

She should use the MoM a couple times per week as a mask (apply thick layer, then rinse off after it drys, typically 10-15 minutes). She should apply a VERY thin layer of MoM all over her face (or at least to the oiliest areas), let it dry for a couple minutes, then apply her makeup over it. When you wear the MoM under makeup, you want to apply the thinest, most sheer layer that you can because it if you put it on too thickly, it dries white and obviously you wouldn't be able to hide it under your makeup. In other words, if you've applied it thinly enough, you won't even be able to tell that you've got it on. |

| IMO, in a lot of cases the reason pores look big is that they are filled up with sebum and oil. If you use a deep cleansing mask or cleanser on a regular basis you should no longer need a product to help minimize pores because they will actually be smaller just because they're empty. That's my theory anyway I'm convinced that this is why Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream has worked so well for me. I'm not sure about using the Dr H CC on oily skin though so I would recommend regular mud masks for a few weeks and see how that goes. |

I'm one of the many devout followers of the Dermologica Microfoliant phenomena, so I'm definitely throwing this one out as far as the tightening, unclogging of pores for oily skin goes. But if she's got severe sun damage, I'd highly recommend the Obagi stuff. It's done miracles for my mother and several of her friends, if she's dedicated and can get through the first 2 months or so of her skin getting worse before it gets better. If her skin is terribly damaged, maybe professional microdermabrasian and chemical peels would be a good step. My dermatologist always performs skin peels for most of his patients every visit and the B-Lift works wonderfully.
Good luck!! I don't know whether it's a blessing that the human body is so high maintenance because it keeps us entertained with new products, or a curse for the obvious effort and frustration reasons.  |

  I was going to mention two: Mint Julep and Dr Hauschka mud mask (based on other people's reviews). The Borghese Fango Face & Body Mud is also good. Be ware with the QH Mint Julep mask though - I don't have sensitve skin and it borders on burning when I have it on for the first few minutes.
ETA: I used a really good Ahava Advanced Mud Mask before but cannot for the life of me remember if it was the oily skin one or the dry-normal combination |

| I have to second the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask (I didn't know anyone else liked this stuff!) I really like it, it's so cheap (about $2 USD) & with the sulphur it definately helps to dry out any zits I may have at the moment. Plus the best part - it smells like spearmint gum - yum!! |

| I bought mine at Target. I'm not sure where they would have it in Canada, but they do have it on drugstore.com (and still just as cheap!) |
