I am 21 and I have 3 horizontal wrinkles on my forehead. I guess I got them from my tendency to raise my eyebrows a lot, because the lines deepen when I do. My mom has a retinol cream that she got from the dermatologist, would that be too strong for me to start using on my forehead every night? I moisturize my face every day and night with a cream I got from the derm with octinoxacte and zinc oxide, which has an spf in it. I never get my face in the sun either. Is retinol too strong for a 21 to start using or are there other alternatives?

Before you start using RX treatments, maybe try to train yourself to not raise your forhead as much? Watch yourself when you are talking on the phone and see what your expressions are, and how often you are raising your brows. You can try frownies at night and even during the day when you are at home. The main thing is to change your habit because retin a will not help if you continue with those expressions.

Even with a very expressive face, you should not be seeing visible ageing at 21 - your skin turnover is fast and you should be producing plenty of collagen. Does such premature ageing run in your family? Is it possible your skin is dehydrated? Do you consistently meet or exceed all your government's recommendations for healthy eating? Do you smoke or use harsh acne fighting products like benzoyl peroxide? Why are you using an SPF at night, zinc can be drying?

While this is above and beyond sound advice, does anyone really ever do this? I can't count the times a big bag of gummy bears just begs me to take them home when I am shopping!

Erm it is not advice, it was a question! Laughing The problem I see with real life clients and on here is that people see the guidelines as aspirational not the minimum. I don't expect everyone to eat clean and exercise regularly all the time, but I do want them to make health decisions consciously not by default. For people to decide which unhealthy habits give them real pleasure/ quality of life and which can be cut back on or dropped. Talking through the guidelines often makes healthier choices easier choices.

Possible solutions to the gummy bear issue: eat a LARGE meal containing fat, protein, watery foods and low glycaemic index carbs before you go to the grocery store. Shop no more than once a week and always with a list rather than impulsively on the way home from work. Avoid the aisles that contain junkfood, pick stores or checkouts that have less temptation. When you get to the checkout, reassess what is in your trolley as you put it on the conveyor belt. If you can't bear not to have a treat pick the smaller bag instead of the larger one. Stop thinking about gummy bears as all or nothing: cutting the number of purchases by a third or a a half would be a success. Wink

Again brilliant advice, thank you! Now to follow it! I am going to print this if I can figure out how, my hubby will fall over that anyone's told me this, hes tried for years. Prob is I rarely mind, and since I do not have a weight issue, actually just the opposite, I tend to eat whatever is appealing to me at the moment!

eta: I know my hubby would want to give you a giant hug and kiss for this!!!! so thank you again!
