Hi!
This is my first post to the forum although I've been a 'lurker'fo a while!
You all seem to know your stuff - this forum is great but is not good for my beauty 'habit' - I keep finding more stuff I want to try!
Anyway, I wondered if any of you had used 'Dermapower'a home microdermabrasion system that is supposed to be like a salon treatment for at home (uses a disk and vacuum). I bought one and tried it - no results yet - except to be a rather pink and blotchy and my Vit C serum and moisturiser stung a bit the next day. Is this normal after a treatment? Should I continue the recommended weekly treatment for 8 weeks (then a month off) or drop it to every 2 weeks? My skin isn't normally especially sensitive. (I use MD Forte but left off using this 24hrs before and after the micro treatment). Any advice gratefully received - sorry is such a long post!! |

I'd definitely wait til your skin stops stinging before doing another treatment. if it's still stinging on day 5 I'd wait another half week longer. It's best to start slow and build up than to irritate your skin.
and I wouldn't use the MD Forte til the stinging stops |

Thanks, thats what I thought - I trained as a Beauty Therapist years ago but microdermabrasion was then considered something that should be carried out by a specialist so I was a bit worried I'd overdone it!
Will build up gradually and stick to gentle stuff until it all settles down again. Goodness the things we go through in the hopes of getting good skin!! |

Lucia,
I know. I suggest going slow because I always end up either:
1 - using too many new products at once and messing up my skin
2 - using a strong product too often to start with and drying out my skin. I hate that stinging feeling |

Hi Lucia
I dont tend to trust these home instruments, its the same whatever you get, exfoliators, electric epilators, manicure sets, they all look great when demonstrated but when it comes to doing it yourself and getting results, Zilch. And I'm guilty of falling for the sales pitch too. Id box it back up Lucia and enjoy spending your hard earned cash and pamper yourself with more luxurious products that are nicer to admnister. Everyone raves about Dermalogica Microfoliant and also Dr Hauscha Cleansing Cream. Why not give one of these a go and Im sure you will see better results, faster and with less pain. And then you can treat us all to a review |

LOL Cindi!
Terrible isn't it! Unfortunately they won't accept a return as I've used it but I have spoken to a friend of mine who's had proper microdermabrasion and she says she had the blotchy sensitivity that I'experienced (have to say it has calmed down now 24 hrs later). Anyway I'm stuck with it so will have to console myself by buying some luxery treatments anyway! |
