I received this lip balm as part of a Christmas present from my brother. Not a total surprise as I'd asked him for it along with the REN Calendula and Artic Blackcurrant Seed Cleansing Milk Wash (which I will review another time).
The first time I tried to apply it I found it really difficult to get out of the pot. It's one of those balms that is tricky to apply if it is too cold. You know the sort of thing, it won't spread onto your lips.
However, after carrying it around it my bag for a few days it softened up.
It's really moisturising and leaves my lips nice and supple. It has really sorted out my sore, cracked lips.
It's not overly shiny and so would work well under lipstick.
I wanted to try this product as it contains natural ingredients including honey (for hydration), calendula (for healing) and rosehip seed oil (to boost cell renewal).
It is also free from petrochemicals, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, synthetic colours, synthetic preservatives, alcohol, propylene glycol and parabens.
The only fragrance is a light, natural honey one. I don't like the smell of honey but this is so light that I barely notice it.
Before receiving this product I was using the Dr Hauschka lip balm. If it was a toss up between the two, I would definitely go for the REN.
The only downside is the price. While cheaper than the Dr Hauschka it is still £6.50 for a 7ml pot. |
